This is the best lift to the nicest part of Valparaiso. Lots of great bars and restos, great views, and fantastic wall art.

We did 5 of the 9 Ascensor /funicular elevators while in Valparaiso-2 that we went to were under repair. Conception is the oldest but we enjoyed them all. They were very inexpensive and much easier than walking up or down especially in the heat. Great views.

This and the other ascensors in town are all inexpensive, quick, and fun. One suggestion is El Peral up (the "most original" ascensor in the area), and Concepcion down. Inside the station there is a good area map, and some nice views from the outside patio. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

The ride only lasts about 30 seconds, but good fun and worth doing if you're going to Concepcion. It's the oldest in the city and feels like it, too.Worth a quick ride and not very expensive. We walked back down, just to see more of the area - it's not far.

You have to ride at least one ascensor if you visit Valpo. This one is brief and links the port with the Gervasoni parade - a great view point. But frankly any ascensor will do. Lovely rickety things each with their own personality.

The ascensors of Valparaiso are landmarks. This one is representative and takes you up to a part of the old city that is worth visiting. Rising steeply up the side of the hill in the little wooden car is certainly well worth the (inexpensive) price of admission. Do this!

Old school elevator made of wood and cast iron. Oldest in town.It goes for a short trip between downtown Valpo and the Cerro Conception (where the Gervazoni walk is located).Feel the authentic XIX-century way of life in less than two minutes.

We used this antique a lot as it avoided a stiff climb through potentially risky streets/steps, particularly at night. The attendant closed up just as we arrived at the end of his shift, leaving two couples to make their separate ways down near midnight.

We missed an ascensor on our last trip and so determined we had to do it this time. Fortunately this one is located within easy walking distance of the Ibis where we stayed. An experience not to be missed... lovely to use one of the very old...and very reliable modes of transportation so essential in Valparaiso which is very hilly. Pity that some of them have not been maintained...they are a part of the history of the city.

Title says it all. Go up Concepcion, the oldest of all the ascensors, feast on the views down to the city and the port, relax in the sun while eating and then wander. Loads of beautifully painted up houses and great murals. You'll probably find yourself in streets visited from other ascensors, but see them from a different angle. All is very, very beautiful - and breathtaking.

More expensive than the other ascensors and not as interesting a ride. But, a good way to get part way up the hillside from the city.

This is a dlightful ride up to an excellent neighborhood. These lifts make for a relaxed night's stroll in Valparaiso.

It is quite weird at the beginning but when it start going up you change your mind. The view is amazing you are going to enjoy

One of the best value rides you can take from the city centre to a fascinating area of hostels, galleries and cafe/restaurants. I loved it.

Friendly staff ...stairs to be negotiated port side but easy to find. Great way to access restaurants and galleries in Conceptcion!
