Went for a roadtrip during the summer and stopped at the resort for lunch. The whole trip to Portillo is beautiful, but the lake view from the resort is stunning! Food was also excellent! We were sad that we had already paid for hotel in Santiago, would rather spend a night at Portillo.

I have skied Big Mountains like Jackson Hole WY and Whistler BC in the past, but none as interesting and unique as Portillo! Being surrounded by massive peaks in all directions and skiing over the mountain road were beyond belief. The snow was plentiful, yet it was surprisingly warm. The terrain is fairly varied and has lots of steep runs. It was so much fun, even my wife who is not a huge fan of skiing had a great time. Will be back again, next time will stay a week instead of just a day trip. What a great day!

Worth it for people who pratice ski/snowboard, if you dont want ski for a entire week, 1 or 2 days is enough to enjoy the view and the facilities of the hotel, the strongest points are the tracks for who is learning and for experts, the restaurant, the outside hot tube in front of the great view of the valley

Being an accomplished skier I was very excited to visit Portillo. The mountains are massive and geology is no joke around here. The vibe at the mountain is great, and while I didn't get to ski with the US Ski Team I did get to watch and interact with the Austrian team training, which was very cool. I highly recommend you experience Ski Portillo, but make sure to bring a camelback...the Andes are super dry!

We stayed for a week and enjoyed the challenging skiing and great views. The staff was great and the meals were very good. If was fun to meet all the skiers that come from around the world to ski at Portillo.

Spent a week skiing in Chile and decided to include Portillo for a day. We were based out of Santiago and thought we should try to get to Portillo at least once to check it out. The drive from Santiago was not bad - about half on highways past vineyards and the other half in the mountains. The mountain roads compared to those on the way to Valle Nevado are a piece of cake.As for Portillo itself. Fantastic- great snow and unbelieveable views. And no crowds.I would say the only issue that anyone could have with Portillo is the limited accommodation options. You either stay at the Hotel Portillo or if you are willing to do the dorm thing the Inca lodge, or you have to drive from Santiago or where ever else in between that might have accomodations.

Awesome experience, really funny and the view is beautiful. You can go for skiing or snowboarding or just admire the great view in the bar. highly recommended.

Just finished a week long get away at Ski Portillo and it was beyond expectations. I'm from the US so just the fact that I got to ski in our summer was surreal but being able to ski at a place like Portillo was even better. Hotel was top-notch, food was even better, service and staff were just like family, and ski options were everything I could hope for. Ski school and instructors were great and it was fun getting to know them at lunch and in the evenings. You won't go wrong with a Ski Portillo get away. I'll definitely do it again.

Took the one day ski trip to portillo from santiago. It was the highlight of our trip with our tour guide carol and driver Rodrigues. A beautiful place to ski with the lake and being able to ski over the highway.

We passed through Portillo on our way to the Argentine frontier. We no longer ski, however, it is still a beautiful place to stop and see for a little while. There is a lake in the back and the mountain peaks are awesome. Great picture taking opportunities! The resort is nice; the gift shop is high quality (on the expensive side, I thought). It is a favorite training spot for world-class skiers and the place has hung lots of photos to prove it - check them out. If you are skiing, crossing to Argentina or just going up into the Andes, I recommend seeing this resort.

The ski resort at Portillo was a pleasant reprieve on the way to the Argentinian border. There was a pleasant lunch spot. The ski area is one of the best in the Southern Hemisphere. It was a refuge before the horror of going through the border into Argentina. The border took our bus nine hours to cross. If you go by road to Argentina, be prepared. It is the worst border crossing I have ever experienced.

My husband, 2 children and myself spent a week last August (sorry so late on the review) and it was one of the best trips we have ever had. When we checked in and went to the rooms, We had the family connecting rooms, I was a little dissapointed because they were small and not exactly deluxe but that all changed when I looked out the window to the the view of the lake. I soon realized this vacation was not about being in the room. The entire staff was amazing. The skiing was great and the food was wonderful. The waiters were fun and knew what you wanted to drink before you even asked. I was completely amazed by the boot check man. From the very first day he knew what shoes and boots were ours and had them waiting as soon as he saw us. I really dont know how he did it. There were so many activities for the kids and adults as well, from tubing to rock climbing, ping pong, pool, soccer, basketball etc. Never a dull moment. And the pool and hot tubs were great. Unfortunately we will not be able to come this August as we already have our trip planned, but after this year we will definitely be back. My husband wants to go every August.

I spent a week here as part of my study abroad program in Chile and it was incredible! First off, it is absolutely gorgeous, with the mountains surrounding the resort and the lake. The lodge was very nice, although since we were a big group, we stayed in another building that was more dormitory-style, but was also nice, with comfy beds and clean bathrooms. The main lodge had an amazing fireplace and excellent views, but what I loved most was the food! So delicious! Breakfast, lunch, afternoon and multicourse dinner! This was my first experience skiing and might have been a challenging place to learn, but I had tons of fun and there were a lots of runs, but I didn't explore beyond the greens and some blues.

I spent a fantastic week skiing here with my two adult sons. Portillo is a secluded resort surrounded by high mountains next to a scenic lake. We were fortunate to have plenty of snow after two early August snow storms so the conditions were excellent, especially for my two sons who will ski any challenging trail including some heli-skiing. Our week was "gastronomy" week with some incredible three course dinners mostly with a Chilean flavor but also tasty dishes from Peru and Argentina. The service was excellent throughout. Since there are no TV's the opportunity to interact with other guests was greatly enhanced. To save money we stayed at the adjacent Octagon Lodge in a comfortable room with bunk beds, perfect for three men, yet we had access to all the main hotel amenities. Ideal vacation resort for our summertime ski trip!

Myself and 5 friends from CT spent a great week skiing here the 1st week in August. 4 of us are ski instructors and the other 2 are also expert. We found the mountains challenging and after a 22 inch snowfall midweek the skiing superb! The dining experience is spectacular. Our 2 waiters for the week, Mario and Super Mario, were very funny and were terrific waiters. We picked a wine week so there were wine tastings every night with various Chilean wineries. Felipe the entertainment director was great and plays a mean blues harmonica in the bar at night. With 450 guests and 450 employees the service can't be beat. We stayed in one of the chalets with a terrific view of Inca Lake. The chalet is clean but spartan. However, you don't spend much time there as all activities and meals are in the hotel, and of course you came to ski. No lift lines so the skiing is terrific.
