We took a taxi boat from Buzios pier over to the beach which cost about 10 REIS per person - well worth it. We were greeted very warmly and offered 'free chairs & table' as long as you bought something. I guess, it helped that my friend was Brazilian but we got the best service! We had fresh coconut, delicious cocktails and lobster right there on the beach. This is completely different than what I'm used to but I couldn't really fault it. The water was clean with plenty of fish, the service was great and the food amazing. Yes, it is not 5 star but who needs it anyway?

They said the fish we ordered would be ready in 1 hour (that's standard time for preparing, they said). It took over 2 hours for the food to get to us. They took our order to the wrong people... We got coconut water for free, as an "I'm sorry" gift, but it was extremely unpleasant to see they serving food to everyone else on the beach while we were waiting, and starving, because of a mistake they made.

I went to this beach by boat and as soon as I got off the boat there were people vying for custom, offering free sunbeds etc. if you ate in their restaurant. This was ok in a way (you do get the free sunbed). However, naturally the meals were overpriced. It was an ok day out, but there was quite a bit of pestering to buy souveniers, etc. and I don't like that. The beach was too crowded and I think I was charged more for the return boat trip.I wouldn't go back there again - I preferred my local beach, Amacao.

João Fernandes is a clean beach with clear waters, caiaquis and SUP devices, on a beautiful spot. Fun for sure!

This beach is small and a bit crowded, but still quite nice. There are nice corals for snorkeling sessions, as well as other water sports options (kayaks, stand-up-paddle...). Several beach restaurants provide great service.

One of the most beautiful beaches in the area, plus good restaurants. It is only a few minutes from the Buzios central area in an ocean taxi.

Beautiful swimming beach where the ocean is calm and you can relax on the water. The instalations on the beach are great and supply anything you may need but be aware that it1s an expensive pleace! If posible, take some food with you!

This is the most famous beach in Buzios and it is supposed to be the best one. The truth is, I likes it very much. The beach is quite small and one of the most transparent water I saw in Buzios. I went there during low season for which we were only few people in the beach but I am afraid the experience might feel different during the summer...

Good, but packed! Good restaurantes and easy to reach from town center. Nice views! Did not like during week ends, too busy...

Pray for sunny days! with rain , Buzios looses 50% of her charm at "rua das pedras"( stone street) there are plenty of good restaurants. bring small notes ( they never have change)

Best beach ever... Lovely, with good restaurants and hotels... Perfect for families with small kids... Food a little bit expensive

What a great spot at the top end of Buzios. Nice for snorkelling and just hanging out with friends/family.

Joao Fernandes is a nice and not so crowded beach, with good swimming possibilities and good for snorkeling. The water is quiet so not suitable for surfing (you need to go to the other part of the peninsula for that). A couple of places rent chairs, umbrellas and canoes. If you rent a chair, you are expected to order a drink or food and you will pay a service charge. A nice option is to swim to Joao Fernandinho beach and back!
