Went on a trip to WA where the wreck was one of the sites we visited. It was ok even if we saw it in distance and our guide wasnt able to tell the story around it very well.

Take a five minute drive off the main road and catch a glimpse of an early 20th century wreck rusting away about 80m off the coast. It was a cattle ship. I believe the crew survived. Cows don't swim too well though... :)

The wreck of the Mildura is quite interesting to look at, and you can see a surprising amount of it from shore. The best time to go is when the tide is at its lowest point to get the best view. You can also walk out further to take better photos during this time. Also be sure to stop by the stone memorial located at the entrance of the Mildura Wreck road to read more about the old ship that crashed here.

Well -- it is the remains of a early 20th century cattle ship -- BUT - no explanations of what happened or about the ship - or in fact of anything-- so hardly worth the short drive -- unless you are filling in time !!

Interesting to see the wreck, which is a rotting hunk of metal just offshore, but certainly don't put it at the top of your list of things to see in Exmouth.

Worth 30 minutes of your time and drive there. Easy to see, a bit of history. Nice beach as well. Not far out of the way.

I only saw it from the beach but still found it impressive. Those with diving gear are probably in a better position to comment.

Located only a short drive from Exmouth town centre heading out towards the National Park. The wreck of the cattle ship SS Mildura lies in viewing distance from the shore. It rests on a beautiful reef home to many marine animals including coral, stunning fish, sea cucumbers, star fish, crabs, octopus, sea urchins which can all be seen amongst the reef when the tide is low. Some also go out to the edge of the reef and fish in low tide. A great place to visit with children even little ones being that you can see a lot of the reef from the shore line. Remembering to be careful on the reef not to damage any coral or the homes of the marine life. If fishing would recommend reef shoes.
