This delightful venue in a restored art decco cinema offers several various sized studios with such comfortable and roomy seats. Excellent variety of films, open from morning till late and inexpensive. Wine , coffee etc available to take in with you. Each studio has its own ambience. We look forward to our next visit to the area. It even has special sessions for parents when they can bring babies. Oz is such a child friendly country.

Ahh l do love The Sun cinema and have been a member since opening days. There is so much to love about it- all the great movies, big cushy seats, uniquely decorated cinemas with an art deco feel. You can buy wine, great choc tops, coffee. The Sun is surrounded by wonderful cafes and now the lovely popup park as well as the fantastic Sun adult and kids bookshops. And only a couple of minutes walk from Yarraville station! All brilliant and l would go at least 4 times a month every single month of the year. BUT! If you go on a weekend evening or for the opening of a new movie or on half price Tues the chaos of the place could drive you out of your mind! They keep squeezing more cinemas onto the site but the foyer has remained the same size and this results in huge chaotic waves of people trying to exit and enter the foyer at the same time. Add the lack of PA system and young staff trying in vain to manage the differing entry times for all the movies, and the clear confusion of patrons as to which queue they should be in and when their movie is going in and its easy to see tempers fraying. Please Sun management do something to help your lovely staff manage the crowds better. It is such a downer on what could be a truly magical experience at the cinema.

Sun theAtre in Yarraville is the perfect location for a cinema. The different cinemas inside are all different and is very comfortable and cosy. Only negative is that there can be limited parking spots but is an easy walk from the train station

Just a 20min train trip out of Melbourne and you feel like you are in some little town somewhere else in the world. We had lunch right next to the train station and then just around the next corner we found the Sun Theatre, out the front is an innovative astro turf park which looks to be a lovely place to meet up with friends and relax in. The Sun Theatre is like a stepping back in time, lovely art deco interior - it was very crowded which proves its popularity. Highly recommend as a great day out whilst in Melbourne.

Here's the thing. The Sun is our place. We LOVE it.We visit regularly.Enjoy the chocktops, wine, chocolates.Enjoy the chic Art Deco ambience. However, we recently viewed The Imitation Game (a damn fine movie, by the way) at the new Lyric, and were a bit put off by the noise coming from an adjacent theatre. I believe some more soundproofing is required.(hence the sub-brilliant review).Still enjoyed our visit though.Do yourself a favour (apols, Molly). Visit Sun Theatre.ps. Love the fake grass mini-mall outside. cute.

This was a little treasure of a place. It takes you back in time. The seats in the theatre are a little uncomfortable for a long movie but the atmosphere makes it worth it. Only one drawback of attending this theatre and that is the limited parking.

This gorgeous theatre has been beautifully restored and now boasts 5 or 6 cinemas of varying sizes. All popular and some art house movies are shown and a huge local following supports the great enterprise. You can enjoy a latte or a wine or a champers and take it INTO the theatre!! The choc tops are BOUTIQUE! We would go to this cinema more than any other these days. The screens sizes are fine, seating ranges from good to old style to eclectic (COUCHES). Sound systems are state of the art.But the best part of the SunTheatre is the effect its had on the very old shopping centre there. It is now awash with great cafes and restaurants. Boutique supermarkets. Eclectic clothing shops. Bars. Coffee Shops. Old school pub. Nandos. Burger Culture. All just minutes from the city.Congratulations to Mike and his team there at the Sun. Whilst the local shops may say that Yarraville was becoming a great destination - it was really the arrival of The SUN that was the catalyst.A fantastic night in THE WEST!!

What can you say about the gem in the West. Fantastic historical Art Deco furniture - Comfortable big seats with lots of room for legs and goodies. Best choc tops I've ever eaten with decadent flavours including Kahlua, Tia Maria, etc. Great priced tickets and when you become a member - cheaper again. Don't tell too many - we like our hidden gem.

Went there to see a not so good film but had a good time because I really liked this cinema for it's very Grand old-school interior. Much nicer than the big mainstream cinemas with a bit of charm and history. The prices were okay. Lots of restaurants around it too.

Relax in the large old Grand cinema with a bottle of wine and freshly popped popcorn. Tuesday evenings are 'almost half price' night, and the snacks are all very affordable.

Great for a touch of nostalgia, get a group together and have some catering done. Make a fun morning, afternoon or evening of it

A great little retro theatre that has all the mod cons that we expect. Comfortable, convenient parking, restaurants. But the really nice thing is you get to take your drink in with you.

A gem of a theatre in the suburbs. Plays all the current movies and is surrounded by cafes. There is a wine bar near by for a quick pre show meal. Retro decor is a bonus.
