I took my grand kids and they climbed all over the tank and then they wanted to go in the helicopter which was not going to happen as this in on the top of a long flag pole. You can buy vietnam army things the funds help keep up the good work the volunteers are doing.

I was surprised at how moved I was to visit and see names of people I knew on the wall especially the name of a friend from long agos brother who was killed in viet nam.It was a long time ago and I well remember walking in the moratoriums against conscription. Brought back many memories.

This simple commemorative walk made us realize the sacrifice that over 60,000 service men and women gave in what was a forgotten war zone for many. Take time and read the stories of several of those who took part. You will come away knowing a great deal more.

My father served in Vietnam so on a trip to Victoria we dropped in for a visit to the commemorative walk. The display is beautifully done with all military personnel names on the wall. There is a memorial to the fallen and the cross of Long Tan. My father became both excited to relive his time in Vietnam to remember old mates and both emotional for those he lost. But overall he was delighted to have seen the walk. If you are a veteran of any military service or family member this is excellent.

This dedication to Vietnam Veterans is first rate. All members who served in Vietnam are listed (unless you objected) from all Services on pictures that relate to that theatre of War. The surrounding area of tree plantaions and grass plantations are meant to represent the rubber trees and rice paddies that were in Vietnam. There is nothing I disliked about the Walk. What I do like is the area has been well used. If it had not been it would have been just another overgrown area the Shire would have tried to attend to. Also the ability of being able to lay engraved pavers (at a cost) is another on going income source for the local Branch. Very well done.

The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk is one of the best memorials in Australia. The brainchild of several local Vietnam Veterans, the concept enjoyed support at all levels of government, industry and the local community. It commenced with a replica of the Luscomb Bowl which contains story boards of significant events in the conflict, Grass planted represents the rice paddies of Vietnam, and groves of trees the jungle. There is a "Huey" helicopter on a pole, other artefacts of each service, and a replica of the Long Tan Cross. But the overwhelming feature is the glass wall, illuminated at night, containing the name of every person (and animal) which served:service personnel and civilian alike. This is a fitting tribute to a group of Australians who were treated very badly on their return to Australia:my generation has sought to make up for that by supporting this project.

We came across this by accident, and wow, what a find. we loved it, and enjoyed locating names of friends/relatives on the wall. Having lived in puckapunyal as a child, I found it particularly interesting.

The location is easy to access and is well worth the stop. Have a walk around the lovely curved glass wall, read the names on the wall. This is also set alongside a background of native plants, a helicopter, tank & guns. Read the footpath also, have a good look around and learn some history about our Vietnam veterans. A wonderful memorial to all the people who served.
