This was out first visit and we certainly will go back again. From the devonshire tea through to the tempura battered fish , service and food could not be faulted. All staff very helpful and friendly. We also took home fish already prepared with sauce and this was easy and quick to cook with detailed instructions. Staff more than happy to cook your catch to your liking and it was so fresh and delicious. We also purchased products such as jams etc. from the farm and look forward to trying these.

Was wonderful for the kids to experience the thrill of catching a fish. The staff member was also very discreet getting fish off the hook in front of the girls, was very impressed by professionalism. Had our catch cooked up and enjoyed there immediately. Definitely will go back!

The concept is good, & the food we had, ( the battered trout/ the kisch) was very tasty. We visited here as part of our organised tour to see the Little Penguins. We had a quick tour of the "bush" gardens which was interesting, but everything looked a little sad & very dry.

We took our 3 year old son for his first fishing experiencing. Staff were excellent and friendly, happy to help but not over bearing. With the outdoor "natural" option was great to give the fishing experience but when he got bored we headed in and caught a fish easily. Layout was great. Although the menu was a little limited besides the fish, what we ordered was cooked well and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit and we would definitely go back next time we are in the area; "I caught it, they cook it!" Is so true!

We came to the farm because we both enjoy fishing, plus my partner is a chef and wanted to check out the 'Bushtucker' and maybe buy a plant to take home. After a while at the outdoor lake with not much success, we went indoors to try our 'luck' in the Rainforest pool, this is when things turned bad. The young man there shouted at us to come to the other side, which was unnecessary, criticised my fishing technique, what is it to him if I'm fishing the way he likes or not? Obviously he wanted me to catch a fish ASAP, get out and pay for it. After a minute I had a fish on the rod, got it to the top of the water and it was immediately netted and scooped up by this man, I felt very patronised and harassed, I wasn't allowed to net, kill or bucket the fish myself. After it was weighed I asked them to bag it so I could clean and gut it at home to put on the BBQ. They looked dumbfounded and offended that I wasn't paying the $4 per fish for them to gut it when my partner is a chef and even I know how to.We thought 'ohwell we will check out the Bushtucker trail' so we attempted to do this and got lost with the path leading to nowhere and lack of signage. We wanted to buy a plant but half of them were dying or in bad condition so we left.I am now expecting a patronising response from the owner making false excuses for the bad experience and blaming the customer, I've read the reviews below and the responses are astonishingly defensive and passive aggressive. Some advice: take responsibility for your staff's behaviour and your terrible business model, listen to customers' complaints and you will avoid scathing reviews like this. Thankyou for wasting our afternoon.

Tried our luck like everyone else at the outside lake first, it was relaxing just no fish wanting to be caught. then moved in to the rainforest pond where you are guaranteed a catch. The chef cooked our catch just how we wanted it, it was delicious. Thank you to the lovely young lady at the counter who was very friendly and the young men who gave us tips on fishing from both ponds.

If you're a fan of fishing, by all means! My friend and I popped in for some food and was pleasantly surprised by their tasting platter and fisherman's catch. Lara's awesome! Everyone's super friendly and helpful. :D

Went with our 4 year old for her first go at first go at fishing. Went to the outside lake first....no luck! In fact I didn't see anyone catch anything out there! Inside to the rainforest pond and my daughter had her first fish in a 2 minutes! We all "caught" a fish and had it cooked up for lunch. It was pretty pricey but definitely worth the visit if only to see the look on my daughter's face when they pulled her fish out of the water! The fish was cooked well and delicious. Staff also very friendly.

Awesome! If you have kids this is well worth a visit! You can try and catch a fish outside in the main lake or if you don't have a bite and the kids are tired of waiting you can go inside to the indoor pools and you are guaranteed a fish within 5 minutes. There are a number of options with regard to your catch....either have it cooked on site and have a nice lunch or have it cleaned and marinated and take it home! yummy !

Hi Drtravelbug2,Thanks for your great review. Its good to see families gaining some extra value through purchasing a PIE pass for the attraction on Phillip Island. Thank you for your comments to our staff also. We always encourage our staff to keep an eye on on our reviews and i am sure they will be very happy. We hope to see you again some time in the future.Warm regards,

Hi Paul W,Thanks so much for your glowing review. Its great to see that there are still some reasonable, lovely people using the Tripadvisor Service. We do our best to educate customers on the best ways to catch fish safely, but sometimes its very hard as you have noticed. We really hope to see you again some time when your are in the area again.Warm regards,

Hi Lindsay R,Thanks for your review. Its very hard to compare ourselves to Eildon Trout Farm as we are not a "run through" trout farm and do not have the advantage of having a river running through our ponds to cool the water. (Or have the fish pollutants going back into the rivers which is a good thing!) During cooler months we have between 30 and 70 fish caught each day from the lake and I would suggest coming back across Autumn, Winter or Spring if you are looking for a higher rate of outdoor catch. Even having 570 fish in the lake as there is at the moment, doesn't guarantee they will bite! That's farming a cold water fish through a hot Australian Summer. The reason we ask where people are moving to, is so that we can make sure we have staff available to assist with our customers. Frustrating in your case when Kylie asked if you 'had a bucket to hold your fish,' when you were moving between pools, only to be screamed at "we know what we are doing" even though you didn't have any means of carrying your catch. We are only trying to help make your experience better and in this case, saving a trip back into the cafe.We hope you get a chance to read the review from Paul W on January 24th which spells out some of the frustrations we encounter. As with a site like this, its much easier for people to have a winge than to put on something positive.

Great experience for kids. The outdoor pond is seasonal for a catch but there is an lovely rainforest indoor pond that is a guaranteed catch. Great to see the excitement on children's faces when they catch. If kids are sensitive get them to turn away when staff take fish off hook. They are good and do let you take photos. Beware it is not catch and release and prices can get up quickly. Currently charging $19/kilo and average fish weights 500grams. After catching you then have to pay to have it cooked or gutted to take home and do yourself. They do prepare the trout nicely and you can then enjoy the bush tucker walk which is only short but again a fun experience for the kids.

We visited the trout farm on Saturday with four kids (aged 4, 6, 8 and 9) and two adults. It was not a cheap day out and unfortunately we didn't catch any fish in the "Challenging Fishing Lake" and the kids patience was wearing a little thin however we went inside to the Rainforest Pool which was much easier and more exciting for the kids. I have to say the guys assisting us with the bait, pulling the fish in, photo staging with caught fish, etc were excellent. They were super friendly and helpful and were great with the kids. We ended up coming away with 4 happy kids and 8 fish which we took home and cooked that night which were great. Many thanks.
