delicious food in a wonderful location. We loved walking around the estate admiring the sculptures. We enjoyed the friendly staff, laid back feel to the restaurant, the fine dining experience and the food. We has the veggie starters and would recommend both the ravioli and the gnocchi. The duck was delicious and generously served. The snapper was perfectly cooked. The green beans were nothing special. The caramel parfait even though it was very rich, was delicious. Very good wine selection.

The meals we ordered where nice and the overall feel of the restaurant was good. The service was ok but not excellent. Our sides came out much later than our mains, but that was not a bit deal. Our biggest disappointment was how a complaint about a cocktail was handled. When we explained the espresso martini's were not nice and asked if we could swap for another drink we were surprised at how personally it was taken. Our waitress called the Manager who brought out the bartender and we were told 'trust me you will feel the alcohol hit when you stand up' and 'obviously we are a winery not a cocktail bar so we can't just swap cocktails'. It was a bit surprising as we had eaten a three course meal and just wanted a coctail as our last drink - not to get drunk. We did get our money back but it was disappointing how much angst it caused. Even when we went to pay it was brought up again. Good restaurant but doubt we will return after how that was handled as it definitely ruined what could have been a lovely afternoon.

Beautiful views and interesting sculpture walk. The service was extremely poor, staff showed no interest to us (maybe because we are young, maybe because we are Asian or both) but was very attentive to other. The service was extremely sloppy with wine splashing all over the place and with no discussion or explaination of what we were drinking. In hindsight I wish we had just left or I had said something about the poor service. It put a dampner on what was a lovely day. I might go back to see the views and the walk and that is all that I could and would recommend.

We tried to book a table at the cafe but they do not take bookings. Only for the restaurant. We got there a little bit early but still found they had queue's. As we were wanting a table of 10 we had to wait a while. One person had to stay in the line and the rest of us went for a walk to see the art exhibition displayed throughout the winery grounds. Takes about 30 minutes to walk around and see everything. That's about how long it took for us to find a table. The food was good but not a big selection. Not much for children apart from pizza or french fries.Meal sizes are average for the price you pay.

Spent the afternoon here during a weekend visiting Melbourne, the food was clean and all the produce was cooked beautifully you could taste each ingredient, no heavy sauces masking the tastes.Good menu with variety, nice combinations on the plate.

We have been to this place twice. Unfortunately, both were memorable for the wrong reason. First visit, the guy at the wine tasting seemed to be lacking in interest when serving us. Possibly that is the way he looked at people?Second visit with kids. The place was full and noisy. The guy asked us to keep the kids noise down? You have better options in the area

I come here every time I visit the Peninsula and recommend you do the same. This time we enjoyed a wine tasting followed by a prosciutto pizza and a bucket of fries accompanied by some of their beautiful wine. The setting is fantastic and keeps me coming back. The staff are also first class as always.

We have lunched at this fabulous restaurant many times. It is consistently excellent. Barry and his team excel. The vegetarian dumplings were very good, my eye fillet was cooked to perfection and the meal was beautifully balanced with the mash, jus, truffle oil and mushrooms. My husband had the snapper which had a Japanese twist h.e said it was perfect. We shared two desserts the cheesecake which was sublime and that salted caramel banana dessert which was a work of art. Megan and the other floor staff were also excellent. ....and you must try the Montalto Pinot Gris we took six bottles with us. Thanks again for a fabulous lunch followed by a lovely walk to relax

The great thing about Montalto is the variety of options; a walk among the vines to see the many sculptures, the rose garden, vast expanse of lawn to sit and enjoy a drink or casual lunch, the great pizza café with seating under shady trees, the formal dining area. You could visit many times and enjoy a different experience each time.

Went with my partner for lunch. Some staffs are very friendly, others were alright. Beautiful view, not a big vineyard. We had a wonderful lunch though. I was mostly very impressed with the duck that came in as main dish. The duck was amazingly tender, almost perfectly cooked. Wine was great! Lastly the desserts we had were beautiful! Just for the duck, i'll Definately be back for more.

The cafe lunch was of VERY high quality. We were lycky to have the"chicken balls" on their maiden appearance. They were not just chicken balls, more a meal within a meal, as using the ciabatta bread to wipe up the juices from the chicken balls dresses with chorizo, rocket, jalapeños their own olive oil and...the cellar staff were great and straight foreword. Great advice and guidance. The waiting staff in the cafe dealt with a table of unruly kids so well (parents had conveniently located themselves a couple of tables away). And try a glass of cuvée with lunch, I had 3 :-)

Definitely worth booking a table for dinner if you're in the region, or head to the cafe for a cheese platter. Both overlook the gorgeous vineyard and sculptures. Highly recommended.

View, atmosphere, service, food & wine. It's all here. 3 courses for $88 plus wine. -all very good but I think they excelled particularly with their desserts. The poached pineapple dessert was exceptional. They catered well for children. For $40 they had either eye fillet steak or fish, cooked beautifully & served with French fries & salad PLUS the kids got to choose their dessert from the adult menu. (They could have the standard ice-cream & choc topping if they preferred) This was good value for a restaurant of Montalto's class. Large grassy area outside so could boot kids outside between main & dessert. Worked well.

I rang a few places to organise a birthday party for 22 people. I have eaten at Montalto many times, and the food and wine, views and walks are lovely. On this occasion I was not so sure as we would have to choose from the more limited private dining menu rather than the a la carte.David was so friendly and fabulous and helpful - note to owners - he made me decide to book Montalto rather than somewhere else. Our experience was wonderful. We started with drinks on the deck, bit of a walk, then the most delicious dinner and charming wait staff. It was a beautiful evening watching the sun set over the vineyards and gardens. The teenagers took the small children out to play on the lawn between courses, so they were happy and no ipads/colouring books required. All my guests rang me later to say how much they had enjoyed it. I can highly recommend a small private function here.

Went wine hunting and got hungry The lunch place was busy and took 1/2 hour wait for a place Menu is not extensive for 4 of us, so we orders different mains that were available. Wine selection is good.Food is fine with me, presentation excellent but very noisy atmosphere with lots of laughter, was it the wine effect?Service slow though
