Having driven past on a number of occasions wondering what lay behind the locked gate, my husband and I recently had the good fortune to discover Mulberry Hill, a National Trust house which belonged to Sir Daryl Lindsay (an Australian artist) and Joan Lindsay (author of Picnic at Hanging Rock). Our tour guide ( a volunteer) was well informed and was obviously passionate about the house and the family who built it. The scheduled last tour had left minutes before we arrived but our tour guide hadn't left the property and was willing to show us around. The house is only open to the public on Sundays and I would recommend a guided tour to anyone interested in Australian artists and their works, National Trust houses.
