We have a rural property just down the road from Bress Winery and we so delighted to revisit this little local gem after a four or so gap.The set menu is served in three courses, with the entree and main coming in a share platter style. Chef Carly does a fabulous job at utilising local, seasonal produce and the table bread is baked in a nearby woodfire oven. Its the perfect venue for a long leisurely lunch, and you can do a wine tasting prior to your meal. We tried the Bress Rose. Stunning. The restaurant does not seat many and was full when we visited so you absolutely need to book in advance. Don't let the set menu put you off. They can easily accommodate food intolerances, which you get quizzed on when you book.Well worth the 1 hour and thirty minute drive from Melbourne and you can pick up a couple of bags of the famous Harcourt Apples on your way home, not to mention a case or two of Bress wine!

I do like their wine BUT the winery is terrible. Sue who manages the front desk, including tastings, is very rude and inconsiderate. I have given this place many chances and every time I walk away disappointed. I refuse to buy their wine as a result.

We went to the Orchard dinner as part of the Melbourne food and Wine Festival. 106 people seated by the orchard, open fire, lamb roasting, beautifully set tables. The evening started with a tour of the winery with a couple of glasses of delicious wine and some starters as we wandered around. We then sat down to a further 3 amazing courses. Each course was served with several different Bress wines or cider - and they were all very good. The wine continued to flow freely until we left at 12.45. And all that for $110.The atmosphere was fantastic. People were incredibly friendly, the staff were great. Couldn't fault anything. A perfect night out.Go to one of their lunches or dinners if you can - we'll be back.

Visited this winery on the way back home from bendigo. What a lovely place. One of the owners introduced us to their great selection of wines and told us about how they converted their vineyard to biodynamic. It was refreshing to have someone enthusiastic and informative during a tasting. I highly recommend this place.

We dropped in midweek on our way back to Melbourne, not realizing the winery was actually closed. The friendly staff invited us in anyway and have us the full tasting, as well as a short tour of the grounds. Not only did we get this amazing service, the shiraz is to die for. Buy a bottle if you see it anywhere, you wont regret it!

Visited Bress on a special event day run in conjunction with a Melbourne restaurant. It was our first visit to Bress winery and it is very well set up. The cellar door has both the ciders and wines on tasting. There are heaps of things for kids to do also and they invite you to visit their kitchen garden, market garden and chickens. Loads of white Bresse chickens and guinea fowl for kids to be entertained by. Also offer cricket pitch, bat and balls. The food we ate was great but not sure what is the normal menu on offer. They have wood fired ovens where bread and of course pizza could be cooked up. The farm tries to run biodynamically and much of their food is produced onsite. There are also different kinds of pears and apples for the ciders which are made using the champagne method. The ciders are very full flavoured. All the staff seemed very happy to help - we look forward to returning to Bress one day. It's also only a 15 minute taxi ride from Castlemaine which cost $27.50 one way.

An unexpectedly good day out. Food and wine were excellent, host was a delight and the surroundings picturesque. I bought a huge french oak barrel stave cheese platter which I love. Can highly recommend it.

I was introduced to Bress wines at a function in Bendigo and when I found out they were just 12 k's down the road from my house, I got down there asap and quickly signed up to be a Bress friend. The Cellar door manager is the delightful Sue and I would kill for her job! She gets to promote 5-star wines, and organise amazing foodie weekends and events that Bress holds from October to May each year. When you're in the Bendigo area, take the time for a trip to Bress and you won't be disappointed.

Adam from Bress truly cares about the earth and ensure sustainability. I went to one of the events at Bress and could not stop raving about it. The hosts are so friendly and it felt like you are dining in your friend's place rather than a formal restaurant or cafe. Adam never hesistate at sharing his knowledge and it was simply an awesome day out.To view my experience at Bress and mushroom foraging, please visit: http://pigouttravels.wordpress.com/2012/05/16/foraging-frolic-with-fringe-food-fest/

We have been to Bress many times for various functions and visits. Bress is a very relaxed and open environment where the staff encourage you to more than be a customer. You are treated like friends and a visit to Bress is more like a family gathering combined with excellent service and attention to detail. The wines are superb and the food is of a very high standard. A great place to take a family as there is something for everyone to look at or get involved with, or simply sit back and enjoy.

What a magnificant place for a weekend lunch.Bress Winery has a little bit of everything for those who like to combine their wine tasting with a tasty lunch. As you drive past the massive boulders indicating the entrance to Bress, you enetr the world of winemaker Adma Marks. The vines surround both sides of the entrance driveway whilst the apple orchard can be seen in the distance. Just before you hit the homestead, tasting room, outdoor retaurant, winemaking facilities and the most royal of chook houses, you ask yourself why you haven't been hear before. The winetasting is a relaxed, often pour yourself, introduction to Bress wine and cider. tasty all round. For $40 you can have a great multi-course 3 course lunch featuring produce from their own kitchen garden cooked in the real fire pizza ovens. On the day we visited we had fresh cooked bread, heirloom tomato salad, roast corn on the cob, roasted chicken on cous cous finished with a almond and poached pear dessert.Make sure you allow enough time for a wander around the grounds, check out the chooks, visit the kitchen garden, look at the olive and apple tress and admire the vines. With any luck, you'll bump into winemaker Adam who will round out a wonderful afternoon.
