Excellently presented with displays and a museum. The architecture is a combination of Queensland and NSW history and the differences are obvious looking at the platforms on either side.Don't miss the restaurant.

Great history in this wonderful train station. Qld on one platform, Nsw on the other. Great for photos, especially if you're there when the steam train is passing through. Small (free entry) museum was enjoyable. The cafe has great ambience from a by-gone era. Service very good. Everyday cafe menu of chips, fish, salads, burgers and pies. $10 average cost. We found the salads/chips lovely but the pies were very average - containing lots of gristle and microwaved - shame as we expected something better. They need a new pie supplier or even homemade would be wonderful for a few extra dollars.

Train station is on the border of NSW and QLD, train station has fascinating history. Was excited to make a booking at the cafe for lunch over busy Easter weekend, service fabulous but food unfortunately, for me, not particularly edible. Chicken burger pattie out of a box, same with seafood basket all fake morsels. Chips were great. Would have loved to have paid $5-$10 more for real food in such a great location.

What a wonderful old station! Immaculately presented with a lovely cafe (table and chairs on the platform) and small souvenir shop. Wished we'd have been there on a Sunday when the steam train comes in from Warwick. The scene would have been timeless.

The railway station offers somewhere different to break up a trip along the New England Highway between Stanthorpe Queensland and Tenterfield NSWThe station used to be the place to change trains from Qld to NSWLots of interesting things to look at or for a tour around the area

Well worth taking a few minutes to read about the history of this important break of gauge station where NSW train passengers swapped trains to a Qld Railway service. This was the way to get to Brisbane (it took 24 hours) until 1930 when the standard gauge line through Casino was extended into Queensland as far as South Brisbane.Today, the standard gauge goes to Brisbane Roma Street but once again our state governments can't get on (like the situation at Wallangarra) and the XPT times were recently changed to free up track during the morning peak hour. So if you use the XPT to Brisbane, be prepared to arrive around 4am!

Great service, great food, nice gift shop, convenient to Highway, lovely area. Wonderful stop over for those travelling between Queensland and New South Wales or during a weekend visit to the Granite Belt area. This is one of my favourite stops and will certainly be back when travelling in this area.

The café is part of the old state border railway station (nsw/qld).There are some very interesting things to explore here without having to go anywhere else.
