Sorry, but this was the most expensive, while at the same time the most ordinary and disappointing experience we have ever had with regard to any zoo.We recently decided to take our 2 grandchildren to Australia Zoo.Admittedly it wasn't during the holidays or the weekend. We actually thought it might be better to take them outside of the busy times. How wrong we were.At an entry cost of $184.00, we thought this must be good... It wasn't.As adults, we've been to croc shows in Northern Queensland in the past. - This was the poorest we've seen. We've also been to zoos in Bali, Singapore, Thailand, China and others in Australia. This was by far the most expensive / disappointing zoo we've been to.The day consisted of missing animals, closed areas, and a croc show that was extremely disappointing. We thought we were going to see elephants, tigers and some BIG crocs.Elephantasia was closed - not one elephant.Tiger Kingdom consisted of one tiger asleep behind some shrubbery - unable to see him properly anyway.Re the croc show - Unfortunately, we've seen bigger crocs on the banks of the river in Rockhampton. Got to see a very small croc doing a very ordinary show.Albeit that we then got to see some Giraffe and 2 Rhino's waaaay over in the distance, - the highlight of the day, the rest wasn't much to see. As there were cages for animals, but lizards were in hiding, some of the snakes were missing and the "wombat" was nowhere to be seen.Having said that, there were plenty of kangaroos and koalas, but If you've lived in Australia and seen kangaroos and koalas like most of us have all our life then there's a large portion of the zoo that's pretty uninteresting.Because we needed to eat and drink throughout the day, our costs jumped from the $184.00 entry to way over $250.00. And we didn't spend a cent on souvenirs. All in all, a very expensive and disappointing day.Our advice - if you are on a budget, be it time or money, spend your money somewhere else.

Ever since I was a child I had dreamed of travelling to Australia to see Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo! So when I got the chance to spend the whole day there I was over the moon! I thoroughly enjoyed walking around the park, as it's not to big as to be a struggle (although the constant tram service was an option)! I got to see the live otter show as well as the famous midday show in the Crocoseum with the crocodiles and birds! I got the opportunity to hold a koala, python, alligator and ride a camel!! It truly was a fun day packed with as many activities as you could handle and then some! This day out was worth the entry fee and fun for all ages (I'm 20 and was running round like a kid!)DEFINITELY highly recommend!

$58 dollars is an amount that will make any backpacker reconsider. however this is good value for what you get. Get to the zoo early 9-10am by taking the train and a short free* van and start exploring the zoo. make sure to talk to one of the fantastic zoo service guides near the front to find out when the main shows startthey have adequate water fountains but bring your own water bottle as well.*** bring your own lunch and snacks! its allowed (id do it either way) and there food is expensive.they treat their animals very well.

Ticket prices are reasonable and they have a great range of animals to see and touch. Put aside an entire day to do the entire park and definitely go see the wildlife warriors show.

Being disabled, we were able to explore this vast zoo on mobility scooters supplied (at a small cost) by the zoo. The cleanliness, neatness and general layout was exceptional. The vast array of wildlife surprised me and they all looked very healthy. Staff at the Zoo were all very nice and friendly and eager to help. There was nothing to dislike about this place. A huge credit to the late Steve Irwin.

If you accept the fact that somewhere like this will be highly priced and attempts to charge for everything it is well worth the visit. Excellent if you take children the layout is very easy to negotiate and the train helps getting to all ends of the zoo very straightforward. The main show is worth a watch and is very slick if a little cheesy. Can get up close to Kangeroos, Koalas etc as well as seeing some croc feeding at a more safer distance. Tiger show is good but you must get there early as the seating area isnt the largest and even on a day where the zoo is relatively quiet it still fills up beyond bursting and views can be obscured by the number of standing people and their reflections in the enclosure glass. Food costs reflect the high price of such a well known venue so would recommend taking drinks and food in with you. All in all a great place to go with the family just be prepared that costs will be high.

The was the most incredible place I have ever been to! There are so many animals you can see! The zoo is huge, but they also have shuttles that can take you around the zoo, which is great if you have little kids! We did do a lot of walking because everything is so spread out, but there are things to see everywhere you go. Definitely go to the "crocoseum" while you're there to watch the show! They have wild birds that fly around, and you can get up close and personal with some of their famous crocodiles. We also fed the kangroos while we were there which was an amazing experience! You can walk through their exhibit and pet them and feed them! (You buy the food from the gift shop) Overall a very cool place that you need to check out if you are visiting Australia!

It really was a great day out, I was surprised how up close and personal we got to the kangaroo's (my three year olds fav) it was great to hop on the shuttle to the far end of the park and then walk our way back. There's heaps of shady spots to recoup in if its a hot day. The mid day show was great, the food is extremely overpriced! And the animals were awesome. I'm glad we did it.

We really can't rate this place highly enough. It is far above and beyond any other zoo, animal park or theme park with animals that we have visited. We booked in for the tortoise experience and it was just fantastic. The people are all so helpful and friendly and you don't have the feeling that it is all about making a profit which is the case at many other places. It was far better than I expected or imagined.

Gday! Thanks for your review and your kind words - we're glad to hear you had a ton of fun when you visited us! We'll take on your feedback about the show and the price of the wildlife photos, although please note, proceeds from these photos (and our encounters) go directly back into conservation projects here in Australia and around the world. With that in mind, we thank you for supporting us and helping us out with conservation! Thanks,The Australia Zoo team
