We shared in our daughter's wedding reception and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!! Great food, lovely and accommodating staff, beautiful views. Didn't want to leave.

The views were magnificent, those that like wine thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting of 8 varieties. I'm not a wine lover, but enjoyed the platter of assorted cheeses, crackers, olives, salami, pesto and other dips, sundried tomatoes.

Presto peak winery is about 10 mins out of Toowoomba on the Darling Downs and the view to the east, over the Lockyer Valley is spectacular. On our previous visit they had limited meals - mainly cheese and fruit platters, to go with your glass or bottle of wine. On visiting recently none of this was available...just the wine tasting. We are familiar with a couple of their wines and especially enjoy their merlot and vedehlo. We were not disappointed this time and bought a couple of bottles to take home. We also purchased some delightful sparkling Shiraz to chill ready for Christmastime consumption. Most wins are around $25-$28 with some a little more expensive and others priced competitively around $21.We were sorry we were no longer able to get so etching to eat. Even a coffee would have been nice but they only cater for functions and events now. Still worth the short trip from Toowoomba just to see the view.

Alas, we have enjoyed our last lunch at Preston Peak Winery which is closing the restaurant, morphing instead into a special events and weddings venue. The food has always been good and the setting is outstanding. The views are magnificent. Sadly, the wine has never been a sufficient drawcard in itself.Valé, happy visits to Preston Peak.

We visited Preston Peak winery on a beautiful sunny cooler summer Sunday..it is located about 15 mins south of Toowoomba and 1 1/2. -2 hours southwest of Brisbane..perfect for romancing couples, relaxing family lunch or a day trip from Brisbane. You can enjoy a delicious lunch in the cafe (best to book on a weekend), or sample the wines in the cellar or enjoy a delish cheese/fruit platter alfresco with favourite wine drinking in the beautiful view..gorgeous day

We were visiting our son in Toowoomba and had been recommended to try this winery. What a wonderful treasure this place is! The wine tasting was terrific and the gorgeous tasting platter for lunch was more than enough for three. The staff very helpful. Well worth a visit!

Though the lunch menu was nothing fantastic, the antipasto and dips platters were very good. We didnt intend to stay for long but the view was just too mesmerizing and we ended up chatting away for couple of hours. Nice place to hang out for a gathering/catchup with friends and family.

We had a lovely lunch at the winery. The menu was slightly disappointing but we ended up going with a picnic basket which proved to be fantastic, it even came with a blanket. Lovely relaxing surrounds.

I went here on a Sunday afternoon and it was so relaxing sitting outside in the sun. The view is amazing and the wine is great. A great afternoon out :)

It was beautiful here. Enjoyed a wonderful lunch and excellent fruity fresh whit wine. The views are picturesque, with relaxing indoor seating and jazz music playing, or sit outside in the hint of England garden. I also saw some couples having a picnic lunch over looking the range and valley while sipping their wine. I would come back again and we took some wine home. Only wish they had a menued wine tasting with several of their wines and small glasses to taste a variety instead of asking one at a time at the bar.

The locals seem to like the wines here but then, its all a matter of taste. Actually the wines come from the Stanthorpe region (where there are one or two good producers) and this is more a "front of house" attraction close to Toowoomba where there is a larger population for an outlet. For our palates the whites are too acidic and the reds too harsh. Even the floriferous varieties admired by Oz Clarke didn't touch the spot and I doubt that the Wine Society would be interested in these products.Bare in mind this is a critique by someone who is used to European wines, but enjoys those of the New World, particularly NZ and SA wines. Australian palates do differ from ours it has to be accepted (remember those horrid Chardonnay-Semillons that were all the rage there 20 odd years ago - a bit like the Spanish sauternes of the 1960's).Lets be honest about the reds. Oz as the potential for world class wines if only the government had the sense to realise it and not tax bonded wines annually. Most need 1--15 years to mature and lose their astringent tannin after taste, something you don't seem to get with the blended non single estate wines currently on offer. No offense intended to you Aussies, but you need to get your government to come to its senses. Perhaps that's why some of your most successful wine exports have been your vintners.
