The campfire dinner in Cunnamulla is the best way to experience the real bush hospitality and get to know to local characters while listen to stories of their life in the outback. I met so many nice people from all over Australia who were passing through and truly enjoyed that night around the campfire under the stars. Peieta is an excellent cook, we got spoilt with a three course meal including her home-made pumpkin soup which was the best I have ever had. Les, a very special local character and retired drover is a great story teller and entertainer, he showed and taught us how to crack a whip and we all ended up with belly aches from laughing too much. I won't forget that special night in the outback...

In the last lag of my 1-month trip visiting family in Australia: after hopping through Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Brisbane, in the comfort of the “Country Link Coach”, we sliced through Toowoomba, Dalby, Tara, Moonie, St George, Bollon on my way to Cunnamulla. It was my first time to the outback.For the last night of my stay, I was invited out for a farewell “Camp Fire Dinner” at Club Boutique Hotel. I shared the splendid evening with half a dozen other tourists and a couple of relatives, in front of an open fire under a starlit sky. “Les”, the 79 year old Drover, cracked his whip, and told remarkable stories of survival in the outback (the stories reminded me of the movie “Australia” with Kidman and Jackman). It sure was captivating for a good hour and a half, over a scrumptious meal of the most delicious pumpkin soup and Lamb and Beef Roast, with potatoes and veggies, rounded up with luscious Bread and Butter pudding.The enjoyable company, the unforgettable scenery and environment, the absolutely delicious food, are now seared deep into my memory amongst the few others that I never forget. Together, they were a top-notch combination. Of course, it is unique and couldn't be replicated anywhere else. I have to say, it was great value-for-money and none regrettable. I could have just rolled home and missed it. Without withholding anything to admit, this was the seasoning of this most memorable of my latest Australian adventure, and love sharing it.
