Brilliant, the local staff were fantastic and very helpful. They went out of there way to take us for a special tour and had a great knowledge of the local history.

Full marks to the Croydon Shire Council for preserving the historic buildings in this town. Visitors are encouraged to walk through the town to view the buildings in the historic precinct- all entry is free-of-charge. Each building incorporates an historic display which provides an interesting insight into the history of the town. The site of the Chinese Temple on the outskirts of the town is worth a visit. Again, considerable effort has been put into interpreting the history of the site for travellers. The Visitors' Centre is welcoming and has an informative audiovisual display. An added bonus is the arrival of the Gulflander Train once a week. We stayed for two nights in this friendly town and kept busy for the whole time.

This is one town not to bypass, stop and have a walk around, you'll be surprised at the history of the place and all the Historic building are open and free to wander through, wheelchair friendly. The butchers and grocers appear to be shut. Beautiful old street lights mark the main square of buildings.Have a meal at the pub.

If you want information about the whole of this area including its history, then a stop at this information centre with its very helpful and friendly staff is a must. You cannot miss finding it with its large metal sculpture of a miner, unusual benches and other mining artefacts outside and by the main road into Croydon. Once inside there are displays, information panels and short movies to watch.

Great information and short movies about mining and the history of Croydon. Little sculpture garden at the back with antique cars and heritage houses. The walking trail is a must, very well preserved building, Court House is good fun.
