I was prepared for any surprise after driving out there ,having visited many places in Australia that are a little peculiar . The best thing we got out of the visit is one of the creepiest stories we can tell about our whole trip to NSW. Although having not watched the movie myself my children thought they had arrived in Wolfcreek. The whole set up is shabby and derelict and not really suitable for visitors. The owners charge $10 per person to see the mine. We never made it closer then the entrance of the mine because they couldn't find the key, as it turned out it saved me from hurting the owners feelings as I would not have set foot into the tunnels for savety reasons.

Don't be put off by the shabby set up on arrival as this tour made our day. Max and his wife were friendly and amusing hosts. Loved being shown how to pan for gold, the different minerals and seeing inside the tunnels. Maxs story's were hilarious and the marital advice was an extra laugh! Even got to take some lumps of quartz home as a keep sake.
