The collection of early Australian pottery is definitely the best in Australia and so well curated by Geoff and Kerrie Ford. The outstanding feature of the museum is the detailed descriptions of the lives of the potters, many of them convicts, who because of their expertise as potters became free men. The range of pieces and the number of potteries represented is extensive and they give a wonderful insight into our early history. Well worth a diversion off the Hume highway but really a must-see for anyone with an interest in Australian history.

As collectors of Australian pottery my husband and I have always wanted to visit here and did so with our daughter who now lives in Wodonga and it was amazing.

On a recent trip to Sydney we stayed in Albury, on the NSW / Victorian border. The next morning, on the recommendation of a friend, we decided to call into Holbrook to visit the National Museum of Australian Pottery, and were very glade we did. What a fantastic and huge collection of early Australian Pottery starting with the convicts and continuing to the conclusion of all the potteries that began prior to 1920. Even if you’re not interested in Australian pottery, the Museum is a wealth of historical information and photographs. A truly amazing display and collection gathered together by just one couple, don’t go past Holbrook without calling in.

If you in any way value our Australian heritage call in next time you go through Holbrook. Geoff's and Kerrie's magnificent collection gives great insight into the early colonial life, including its artifacts and everyday items. In addition there is a great number of beautifully coloured outstanding pieces of so called art pottery, made usually at brickworks and pipe and tile factories. People are starting to realise our arts and crafts heritage rather belatedly and the museum is fostering these understandings.I guarantee you will enjoy the visit and benefit from the friendly owners' expertise.

Take the exit off the Hume Highway to visit Holbrook and especially this fantastic museum. If you're interested in Australian pottery it's a must! Covers the history of pottery from settlement and state by state up to 1920 (and beyond if the established pottery continued past that date)A brilliant collection.

An absolutely wonderful collection by one man over many years. Curator and owner is the leading pottery authority in Australia and fascinating to talk to. Do not miss if in or near Holbrook.Allow plenty of time - up to 2 hours.
