Make sure you go to the cathedral if you are a visitor to Newcastle. Apart from the architecture of the building itself, it has several museum-like exhibits; mainly military associated, such as a Victoria Cross. There are self-guide sheets available to help you get the most out of your visit and knowledgable volunteers. Well worth spending an hour here.

There was nothing to dislike about the Christmas Service, amazing talent of the singers and a wonderful celebration of our Christian beliefs.

It is worth a visit for locals and visitors. Make sure you walk behind the altar. There is a flag which has been to Europe in World War I, a golden bible made from the wedding rings of war widows. Lots of really interesting bits and pieces. The view is worth the climb up the tower. The rose window is beautiful.

A lovely Cathedral set up on the Hill overlooking Newcastle. The Rose window high up at back of the Cathedral is Beautiful, the climb to the top of the tower is well worth it ,you will be rewarded by a lovely view over Newcastle Harbour,Well worth a visit.

If in Newcastle this is well worth a visit. why , because in Australia there there are no churches comparable to Europe but by Aussie standard this is pretty good. The attendants on the day we visited made an effort to ensure we saw all the notable features without being intrusive.

What a view. A magnificent Cathedral standing on top of an incredible hill overlooking the most magnificent views of Newcastle

We attended two services over Christmas while my mother was visiting from interstate. The choir was an added bonus can highly recommend if you are a church goer to attend a service. We were welcomed by the very friendly congregation and the minister took the time to talk to each of us. Even remembered us being there three days before.. The building is beautiful inside and out and amazing how it survived the earthquake

An icon of Newcastle which can be seen from many places as it sits high on a hill overlooking the city.If you go make sure you climb the tower to the top ( a few bucks donation needed ) for absolutely stunning views.

Would have liked to have gone inside but didn't want to crash a wedding! A rather imposing building from the outside which can be seen from a few of the vantage points from around town.

We had a 10 minute (quite steep) walk up the hill from Hunter St and were met at the door and welcomed in to visit this impressive cathedral which you will see many times as you explore Newcastle. We were given a general overview of the history and areas within the cathedral, then given an excellent leaflet with much more detail about the inside, afterwhich we were left to walk around freely at our own pace. The St Michael Chapel (the Warriors' chapel) was particularly moving and has impressive artwork and stained glass windows.Free to enter, but we anticipate you will happily provide a small donation when you leave, after having had a peaceful and very interesting visit.

A beautifully lit building that towers over Newcastle. Nothing special inside. Would like to have climbed the tower. A service in this beautiful building is better than a self-guided tour. Music sounds lovely.

I am not a church-goer or even a religious man but considering we did the hike all the way to the top of The Hill on a hot Summer's day my wife convinced me to have a look inside the Cathedral. I am very glad I did. I even dropped to my knees once inside and said a prayer.....A lot to see and take in inside the cathedral. Really is a wonder....

A beautiful old Church perched high on the hill overlooking Newcastle City and water.A lovely church regardless of your religion - worth visiting even if only for the craftsmanship of the building and beautiful landscaped surrounds.

The Cathedral dominates the Newcastle sky line high above the city set in a very pleasant garden area. It has an appearance of being old but was in fact constructed in the late 70's. A wedding was taking place at the time of our visit but we were still able to look around without intruding on the event. We walked up to cathedral after visiting the Nobby's Lighthouse area, the outdoor sea baths and a stroll through part of the city a great way to see Newcastle.
