We visited this site after reading about it in the Emmaville Mining Museum. You need to walk down to it and there is an information board there. How difficult it would have been to work in this place.

The Historic Ottery Arsenic is off the beaten track near Emmaville on the New England Tableland NSW. We had no idea that there was so much mining history here in the late 1800s. First a tin mine and later an arsenic mine the site is really not suitable for small children although the remaining ruins etc are well fenced with warning signs. The history is well documented on information boards. We spent about an hour walking around the area which has well defined walking areas. it was mined mainly to produce sheep and cattle dip. it is the only remaining arsenic mine site i believe in NSW. More history in available in the Mining Museum in Emmaville
