Now this was one great winery & it is sad to see it slipping into decline. The vinter left to start his own winery at Stanhope about 4 years ago but his legacy of great wine continued until their distributor went belly up in 2013, thereby impounding their wines which are now available through Grey's online @ $3 - 4 dollars ea. They continue to trade in an adverse market & it's difficult to see them coming out the other side.

On a recent road trip travelling on the scenic Bylong Valley Way, we called into the James Estate Cellar Door. A nice little find with a wonderful view over the vineyard to the valley and surrounding mountains. We purchased a Merlot and Chardonnay by the case, which was quite reasonably priced for cellar doors. This Cellar Door could be greatly improved if they provided light refreshments as the views from the property are quite outstanding. Definitely worth a visit if driving along the Bylong Valley Way.
