World-class course architects left behind a couple of amazing golfing experiences.I've been fortunate to have played both the Dunes and Lost Farm several times now over the past few years - and everytime come away thinking that the condition of the courses (Dunes more so than Lost Farm) is below par. My most recent visit last week leaves me commenting that I've never seen greens on an elite course in worse condition.I'm not convinced the type of grass used on the greens will ever do justice to the layout.

Overall I didn't like my round of golf at Barnbougle dunes. The fairways were a mess. Heaps of divots. The bunkers were outstanding.

I'm not a keen golfer but this course is something different. Set amongst the rolling sand dunes of the North Tasmanian coast this is an experience not to be missed. Spectacular on a warm sunny day.

What a great place to play. We enjoyed a fabulous sunny , blue skied day at the Dunes with a game of golf to remember. Early morning wallabies , blue tongued lizards slowly ambling across the course and the occasional view of Bass strait made for a grand day in the outdoors. A relaxing sandwich, cool drink and a chat in the restaurant area topped off a wonderful experience. A quick look in the well appointed pro shop is always recommended. A must for all golfers.

Played here after too many years of "gonna". Late 40's myself, took a younger brother and the old man (75). Dad had been a single handicapper in his prime... a feat that has easily eluded me and the Bro. Prelude is that the old man had had a number of health issues over 5 years and first chance to get him back on the track.Phoned ahead to get a cart for him, walking the 18 not an option. And that's where we struck gold with being assigned Stan as our caddy.Able bodied or not... ask for Stan before he really, really retires ! The bloke is GOLD.

I don't think I've ever been so pumped for a round of golf in my life and the dunes didn't disappoint. We flew into launie airport and hired a car to get up there. The drive took a bit over hour and a half but it was a pleasant drive through the country. I have to admit I was expecting to arrive to a packed car park and having to wait around until our exact tee time. When we arrive at about 10am there were about 10 other cars. We went to the club rooms and were told we could hit off whenever we liked. There was no arrogance about the place like you find at majority of melbournes sandbelt and peninsula courses which just added to the experience. The course was amazing. Fairways were immac. Bunker were massive and everywhere. And if you go in the rough don't bother looking, take advantage of the local rule "Irish drop" and keep enjoying your round. Two pieces of advice take at least a box of ball and don't stay at the on course accommodation. If you really need to stay on course stay at lost farm at least they have a sports bar. We stayed in launie, the drive to and from wasn't bad and it was a half decent night out.

A visual feast. Nice accommodation in the cabins. Lots of wallabies. Course delightful but beware the wind!Only had breakfast at the clubhouse restaurant. Great bacon.

This golf course is fantastic not to hard if you play of the correct tees until the winds blow then the teeth of the course comes into play if I lived in Tasmania I would play this course once a month.Restaurant was good value had breakfast lunch and dinner and enjoyed every meal

We came here for breakfast and dinner.Nivce ambience. Food is alright. Only have 2-3 waiters. they have to take care the front bar counter and service the diner. Sometime you find difficult to locate them.

Visited here for the first time in three year, accommodation at Barnbougle Dunes still very good of myself and 7 fellow golfers. Restaurant in club house provides excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner dining. Clubhouse now has beer on tap. Both golf courses are still amazing pieces of golfing architecture. Word of advice the restaurant in not exactly accommodating for a romantic dinner for two, more suited to rowdy golfers recanting the days rounds over a few beers.

A great place to stay and relax and enjoy some golf and a walk along the beaches. The views from the course are spectacular as too from the Clubhouse at Lost Farm. Golf can be enjoyable for the long straight hitters. Rough is brutal and the course really challenges your ability.

Just a fantastic complex that every golfer must do, and non golfers well looked after as well. Two great courses that are world class, great accommodation, great restaurants that even with captive audiences do not overcharge, excellent helpful and informative staff.....just a very special place. We stayed at the Dunes cottages, separate standalone units that were very clean, well equipped, spacious, balcony overlooking the course. Dunes restaurant serves really good food, small but inviting menu and good snacks available during the day. Lost Farm restaurant bigger, larger menu and slightly more expensive but has a view that needs to be experienced. Accommodation here more like a hotel and slightly more expensive. Day spa looked capable of satisfying all pampering requirements as well. Four kilometres separates the 2 complexes but both are duly integrated for billing and booking purposes. Well equipped pro shops and very helpful staff as well. Already planning our next trip, put it your bucket list and get there soon!

Been here a few times and never disappointed. Accommodation on site is very goos as is the restaurant/bar. Course is exceptional. Always options with shots, but plenty of areas that you do want to go. Some of the bunkers are unbelievable. Very well maintained and when the wind blow the greens canbecome very difficult. Well worth the trip for any golfer.

Barnbougle and Lost Farm surely rate in the top echelon of golf courses and especially golf links. They are both quintessential links courses; beach views are common and a wayward ball can be found by searching on the beach! At about $110 they are well priced on the world golf scene; equivalent courses in USA and UK cost about $300-$600! The accommodation is good to excellent, and the food and outlook at Lost Farm in particular are stunning.

This course has really matured and is now a great links course and can be truly compared with the famous courses in Ireland and Scotland. It is a great test of golf for all levels of players.
