Lovely museum. The Museum Cafe has freshly made items, better than most museums that has sandwiches in plastic wrappings. I especially enjoyed the mammal and Mason exhibitions. The shop is worth a visit and the iridescent exhibition ending tomorrow gave me a new insight into the Birds of Paradise and the peacock spider video is most entertaining.

Fantastic collection, particularly the aboriginal and South Pacific Islanders displays for me. We'll put together and free. What more could you ask for.

I spent a few hours here. Its ok. If you're near the Museum, its worth checking it out. I think this is the second oldest museum in Australia but we definitely have better. There are enjoyable p[arts of this Museum but just not enough. Sorry.

Best place to go on a hot day. We have a routine that we go to the museum and then over to the David Jones food court for ice cream. Great and cheap hot weather date with the kids.

Free tours at 10am and 2pm (you need to check) and our guide was informative. Very good selection of exhibits - this is a general museum with Eygptology, natural history, geology and Antartica stuff. A good 2-3 hours spent.

My visit concentrated on the Mawson exhibition but to my surprise there were significantly more new things to see, especially the giant squid has a specially made shaft over four floors to capture size of this squid.A visit to prehistoric displays are also recommended, best of all it is free

This was a memorable experience for us. In particular, the curator went out of his way to spend time explaining the origin, formation, value and care of Opal gems. Many thanks

Great place, lots of exhibits (giant squid, mineral collection, animals from the past, ....). Excellent for children. Close to the Botanical Gardens.

This is a wonderful place to spend a whole day just wandering around, it has interactive things for the kids to do and great history stories. No charge, wander around then enjoy lunch or a drink on the lovely lawn area at the front. Right in the centre of Adelaide easy access by bus or just up the road from the train.
