the water gardens of vaipahi

This is a must see on Tahiti. Walking along the trail, you see native plants that are in full bloom - like Bird in Paradise and a Chinese plant, along with many others. The waterfall was beautiful. There was a cave nearby that you could swim in, if you wished.It was a simple, yet beautiful place.

There are very nice displays of many tropical flowers. The pond with the lotus plants is beautiful. The well-maintained path is almost flat. There is a small gift shop.

This is what the botanical gardens should look like. Well maintained, signs on trees, paths that are clear and logically placed. There are hikes up above. Don't miss this stop.

There are several choices of hiking routes on the map. The longest would probably take a few hours. Add that to strolling the gardens and picnicking and you have most of the day.

As part of a tour, we stopped at this botanical garden. It was lovely seeing so many exotic flowers. It was something my husband and I enjoyed because its something we don't typically see, living in the city. This garden also has a lovely waterfall near the entrance and apparently you can go in, so make sure to take your swimsuit. Also don't forget your bug repellent! Although its a lovely garden, you wouldn't spend much time here so make sure to schedule other activities around it.

We called in here as part of a tour of the island. We just walked in without payment, so I assume it is free entry. Very pleasant gardens and some very unusual plants and flowers, so lots of photo taking.Really worth a visit whist on the island.

It's a beautiful (and free) promenade to do in Tahiti. First, you have many path that lead you to lotus, gardenia, "opuhi" , etc.. it's peacefull, even though the road is near the gardens.And then, for walkers, you can choose one of the 3 path in the mountain (a 2 hours walk, the "Grande boucle"; a 1 hour walk if you take your time : the "Petite boucle" or the river walk, maybe 20 to 30 minutes ?) and climb a little bit. If you just want to have a great view on the sea, choose one of the "boucle" (it's the same start and finish) and go to your right. It worth it !

We were so fortunate that we stumbled across this gem. While driving all the way around the island of Tahiti we saw past the entrance to these gardens and quickly pulled over to park. You'll learn that Tahiti attractions signage can be hit and miss! Our guide book said it 700 F entrance but they didn't charge us entrance. These gardens are really worth exploring, there are waterfalls, ponds, a huge variety of flowers and trees. There is plenty of shade so you can escape the heat. There are graded paths around the park which are easy to navigate. The entrance is around the 48-49 K marker. There is a nice gift shop at the entrance. It is a photographers paradise - check out the ones we took. From here we went to the Botanical Gardens and was really disappointed. For me these gardens were the best ones we saw on the island.

Très bel endroit, agréable, bien entretenu, nous retournerons nous y balader quand nous reviendrons à Tahiti.

Randonnée au départ raide et sportif qui laisse peu de temps pour lever le nez mais une fois monté, quelle bouffée d'air, quel paysage, la randonnée longue permet de se défouler et autorise de se restaurer ou de faire une pose si toutefois vous avez pensé à amener quelque chose.N'oubliez pas de prendre de l'eau.

Красивый тропический сад, лотосы напомнили о Японии и Китае. Очень спокойное и приятное место для отдыха, которое находится вдали от города.

Приятные сады и небольшие водопады, удивительные лотосы и тишина. Это место находится далеко от всего, тем оно и радует.

Les jardins du bas sont très agréables et assez bien aménagés avec quelques explications intéressantes sur la flore. Mais je serais beaucoup moins enthousiaste sur les "randonnées à faire". 3 chemins sont proposés, mais aucune indication sur les difficultés rencontrées ! sauf un temps indicatif (à condition de ne pas se tromper et de faire des centaines de mètres avant de faire demi-tour en se demandant où on va !). Très mauvais balisage, flèches invisibles du chemin d'arrivée ou carrément inexistantes, sentiers très mal entretenus (branches obstruant le passage d'où l'obligation de passer soit dessus, soit dessous), traversées de rivières non sécurisées, obligation de descendre des rochers très escarpés en varappe aidé par des cordes.... Bref, chemin à faire sans petits enfants, et à condition d'être agile et en bonne santé !! Je n'ose pas penser à ce qu'il se serait passer si l'un ou l'autre avait eu un accident ! Bref, je trouve ça dangereux d'autant qu'on été absolument pas prévenus. Et c'est dommage, car de là-haut, il y a un super panorama. Partis pour une heure et demie de promenade sympa, nous en avons passé le double, dans l'énervement de ne pas être sûr d'être dans la bonne direction et en courant pour arriver en bas avant de trouver les portes closes (ça ferme à 17 h !). A faire en prenant des précautions.

belle surprise en faisant le tour de l'île de Tahiti. Le jardin est tout simplement magnifique, surtout en fin d'aprés-midi. Nous avons vu un arbre comme nous n'en avions jamais vu avec des grappes de fleurs rouges retombantes. Une vraie splendeur. Tout est beau et on peut adapter le temps de visite selon le temps qu'on a. Photos extraordinaires a faire avec les jeux d'ombre et de lumière et les reflets dans l'eau.
