This is a well maintained public area with beautiful gardens of flowers and plenty of seating area to relax and enjoy the surroundings. The tourist information centre is well stocked with brochures and staffed by people who are only too happy to help in any way they can. The council are in the process of expanding the area too with more family orientated activities so making it a great place for travellers and locals.

Exquisitely well maintained public areas like the Soundshell and surrounding gardens. In spite of huge amounts of traffic over Art Deco weekend, the area looked immaculate the following Monday. Lovely vantage point to look out over the sea and towards Cape Kidnappers.

Marine Parade provides a great area for walking, barbequing and playing. the ocean here is expansive although unsafe for swimming. Beautiful part of town

Was a very quick stop over so drove around, sorry the beach wasn't sandy so I could walk on it, quite pebbly not conducive to walk with back problerms.

Wel, quite poor choice in terms of cafes and restaurants....and most surprisingly, not a single seafood place!

This is a lovely excursion close to the centre of town with many attractions such as the Sunken Garden, the Sound Shell, and the Aquarium. On a fine day just to stroll along Marine Parade, taking in the sights, is a great way to get some enjoyable exercise.

Lovely sea front at napier, a wide promenade to walk along, lots of places to sit and look out to sea or take in the beautiful flowers. Close to the town centre and great beach front.

Napier is a charming art deco town nested against the ocean in sunny Hawke's Bay. Marine Parade runs the length of the ocean alongside the town and has some really gorgeous sea-front attractions, especially for young families. There is currently a plan in place to extend the attractions, but most of these are now already completed: Massive play grounds of varying age ranges are fenced in and in different sections so that children of the right ages are in with each other on appropriate play equipment. Plenty of shade and picnic tables available for parents and families. There is also a pretend 'road' for children practicing their road rules where they can bike around a small section which has traffic lights, crossings, road markings, etc. Just bring along your bike or scooter. all fenced in and very safe. There are fountains along marine parade that light up at night, a Rotary Pathway which runs from Bay View, past marine parade, all the way through to Havelock North which cyclists and walkers alike can enjoy. Pania park and stunning gardens are also on Marine Parade - Napier council is very well known for its incredible gardening creations on all roundabouts, parks and median strips. Well worth a visit.

What a wonderful area, so much to do. Great facilities, bbq's with shade sails, cycle tracks, walks, fountains which children and dogs loved to swim in, skateboard and scooter tracks, children learning to drive area, excise trail, beautiful gardens, aquarium, the list just goes on. Very clean, we saw the council workers every day for long hours making sure the area was immaculate.

It is a great morning or afternoon walk (or any time of day really) - our hotel was about 10 mins along marine parade from the centre so we liked to walk back along the beach front after a nivce meal in town

Lovely place to walk, wander and enjoy with the ocean inside, parks, buildings and very flat for easy walking.

A great place to stroll with your family while enjoying the gentle sun kissing your face. You'll enjoy an afternoon there with lazy stroll and a good book to relax yourself when you're tired walking.

Just walk to the lovely fountain and then take a leisurely walk along the promenade, careful of the bikers, and enjoy the sea and the lovely beach. Just a lovely walk.

A beautiful, well cared for city rebuild in Art Deco Style following a 1931 earthquake. Enjoyed the classic cars, costumes and friendliness of the citizens who went all out to welcome the cruise ship. The best stop on our cruise.
