We did about 30kms on the Napier to Clifton route - well defined tracks - met lots of interesting people, everyone was happy to give advice - cool activity with a sense of achievement.

Cyclists should be warned about the steep hills and busy road part of the Landscape Trail It is not suitable for recreational cyclists. All the other trails are great,

We took our bikes up to Napier for a number of days and set out on the various bike trails because they had been recommended to us by others. Each day we did a different route and clocked up around 35 - 50km's. That was alot of exercise for the first big bike rides of the season (after sitting in our office jobs for most of the year). The bike trails we did were very easy (i.e. no hills or steep climbs) but they were slightly boring and as we were always cyciling back to Napier at the end of the day - we often faced a bit of a head wind coming back. Many of these trails go along stop banks or similar. The scenery is fine but not varied enough to make it as interesting as other tracks we have done in Auckland, Wellington and along the Kapiti coast. I suppose what added to our disappointment was the fact that we did the Puketapu loop on 29 December as it was not a public holiday and we were keen to try out the lunch at the hotel. After cycling approximately 25 km's direct from Napier we were disappointed to find the place shut. Needless to say I was not impressed. As we were sitting outside the shop next door eating heated pies another couple joined us on their bikes experiencing the same disappointment. The water ride north of Napier was very interesting because of the variety in the trail. Great spots to stop and have a meal or a drink along the way and excellent tracks. It was also along the coast which makes it quite pleasant. Note, it can get quite hot when you do the inland trails - so take plenty of water along with you - or stop at wineries or eateries along the way.

We cycled around some of the wineries. Parked at Roys Hill and went along Ngatarawa Rd. Great tracks and plenty of wineries to choose from.

A well run bike tour encompassing a 16 km area and including 9 vineyards open for food and tastings. An easy flat bike ride with a well defined cycle trail off road. Any wine purchased will be collected and be available on your return.

These trails meander through the most scenic views of hawkes bay - there's even a new one by the river at Central Hawkes Bay between Waipawa and Waipukurau. Easy cycling - never too far away from cafe stops or other attractions

Great place to stay for the ADF much cheeper than Napier & half the events are in the Hawke's Bay area.

Easy riding tracks. Great scenery. Will be back again soon. Roll on summer so we can enjoy some more. Next time it will be a winery tour.

Trail was well signposted, and easy to ride. Lots of things to see on the way, and there was good information at points of interest.

I use the trails for recreational cycling and also as a route to bike to work. Like being off road. Don't like uncontrolled dogs (or their owners) and the very occasional motor bike/dirt bike nutters. DO like the huge range of places you can go - along the coast, up the rivers, to the wineries . . .

These bike trails are a fantastic way to see the beautiful Hawkes Bay. Nice and flat (yes!) and great for all ages. My 5 year old manages 15km no worries and great places to stop along the way for food and drink. Our favourite is along Marine Parade waterfront to Westshore and around airport. Don't miss this when you come to the region.

Hawke's Bay now has an array of limestone trails for the mountain bike enthusiast, or should I say trail rider. These trails are flat and easy to ride. Maps get be picked up from cycle shops or got off the internet. It is so nice to be biking in the countryside in a safe environment and know that no vehicle is going to knock you off your perch. Rides can be planned for views, circular trips, or out and back, often visiting cafes along the way. You can choose how far you want to bike, a small half hour ride, or a day trip. The trails provide great outings for the whole family, singularly or with a group of friends. Why not get fit and have fun at the same time! They're easy!!
