What a great way to spend a couple of hours. The self drive cars (seats for 4) use the old rail line towards Rotorua from Mamakau. The cars are well separated (not in view of each other) and you travel through varying and interesting countryside. Can be a little cool so take a jacket. Our host for the day was excellent. She had a most cheerful manner and obviously enjoyed meeting people. Don't miss this original Rotorua activity.

Very professionally run tourist attraction. Self-driving golf carts that give you a running commentary along the route; there and back. Brand new attraction and everyone can enjoy the scenery along the way. We saw Deer/Elk, a turtle, horses, and beautiful native plants all along the railway.

I booked this trip for my train-mad 3 year-old grandson, and he loved it, especially taking charge of the hooter!! The scenery was lovely, and I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in trains. The cabs are very well spaced out, in fact you hardly see anyone else and I shall look forward to going again when the track has been extended as is the plan for the future.

This is a really terrific attraction. Just imagine - you get to drive your own golf buggy style railcar and get to see fabulous scenery along the way. This is a unique activity and something we'd never be able to do in Australia. Full marks to Railcruising for coming up with this fabulous idea. We had a wonderful time and the staff were very helpful and accommodating to our needs.Highly recommended.

Hi guys... if you like nature and the wind blowing on your face, you should better come here. In this place, you get to drive a vehicle on your own which doesn't have a handle but has a handbrake, a honk and radio incase of emergency (you don't want it to happen though). It may seem boring, but you WILL have a great time for sure.I had a great time on this ride. I could see the nature all around me, and I enjoyed this experience. One thing I can say to the staff is to put a wiper on it... I didn't exactly know if there was a wiper or not. And also, if you guys make the noise a little bit softer around us I think it will be a better surrounding for us.Thanks guys for the wonderful experience!

The best tourist dollar I have spent in a long while. I can't recommend this whole experience strongly enough. Just so professional and visionary.

Whether you're a train buff or history fan, this is a great activity for all age groups. The rail cruising cars were safe and comfortable. Staff were friendly and instructive. The landscape was interesting and the commentary informative. Rail cars are electric powered, so no manual pumping like in cartoons required!

This attraction is worth every dollar spent. Leisurely, stress free and lovely scenery while listening to very informative commentary.

My cheeks hurt from all that grinning! It's like a cross between Noddyland (mini cars) and the Popemobile (back seat is elevated). It was a very hot day but glad I took a jacket as there was a breeze coming thru the car (yes you do go fast enough - just). The designated 'driver' is given a few safety instructions (the emergency radio etc) but really only needs to pull the handbrake and to push the horn (at cows, birds, under the bridge and for FUN).Make sure you watch the video showing the history of how this business came about and also read the article on the log cabin....They assure us Yogi + Boo Boo aren't hiding anywhere. Apparently a few more options and upgraded cars are coming soon ..... Well worth a visit.

Railcruising in mamaku Rotorua is cool fun. The little self drive cars take up to 4 Adults. You get a good cometary along the way and really feel like you are in your own little train. The staff are very friendly and I say it's well with the ride

We did this with my parents last weekend. We couldn't have picked a nicer day as the weather was perfect. We received a warm welcome when we arrived at the railcruise station. We were given a safety briefing before setting off at 3pm. The cars were really comfortable and we enjoyed looking at the scenery. The commentary was good - not too long or tedious. I enjoyed the little snippets of information along the way. I'm not sure that it would be suited to people with young children as it might not be a young child's cup of tea once they get over the initial buzz of being in a self drive railcar, but all up, this was an enjoyable experience for us 'mature' people.

It was great fun, trundling along the rails in our little train car, hearing very interesting narration over the speakers. My only criticism is that we were amongst the first groups to arrive, yet had to wait for the last car, which was incredibly tedious. It also meant we had no time at the other end of the line, so I'm not sure if there was anything worth seeing as we hopped out, had the car turned around, and off we went. Very friendly staff, and free tea and coffee while you wait.
