比起lake tekapo，瓦纳卡湖好像没有被人过多的提到过，我却非常喜欢这里。湖水一样清澈、湛蓝，这里有着前者没有的类似海边沙滩的湖边，你可以在这里晒太阳、喂海鸟、野鸭，小朋友还可以拣贝壳。我们去的时候，当地人中午时光还会去湖里游泳。

度假胜地好怀念在瓦纳卡的时光瞧瞧这野鸭多肥（真的会飞的哟），在这里一点不惧咱“恐怖”的人类，要是在咱们“可爱的祖国”，恐怕YY们早就成了盘中餐了，看来鸟儿的命运也要分国籍呀！汗就连我们印象中胆子最小、最敏感的麻雀也不惧人，胆敢在我们手边来啄食，真是奇了怪了。重庆言子——打望，想必大家都懂塞，这老外一杯咖啡就原地不动地待了几个小时，肯定是在蹭网。淘气男孩爬到花台上玩耍，发现有人偷拍开始做鬼脸。 带着狗狗们遛弯后就径直来此喝喝咖啡，与熟人聊聊天。

瓦纳卡湖位于南阿尔卑斯山东麓，海拔280米，面积192平方公里，为冰川堰塞湖。住在湖边的人家，好山好水好寂寞，不过只要有孩子就有生气啦。这一路太过安静了，只遇到三两个骑车的，来徒步的人很少，其实冬季才是瓦纳卡的旺季，南岛最大的滑雪场就在这里。只走了一个多小时大家都走不动了，不是累，是又晒又热，出来时穿着羽绒服，现在穿单衣都热，大家一致同意返回休息，湖边徒步往返2个半小时。

I liked the quiet atmosphere in Wanaka. Not a lot of tourists or people here but the view over the mountains was stunning. I loved it.

We didn't like Wanaka but really enjoyed driving and/or walking around its lake.The appearance of the lake changes dramatically with the angle of sunlight. Thus, there is always an interesting viewpoint on the mountains to watch the lake.Exploring is the best solution. Take your time.Enjoy !

Crystal blue water, beautiful lake, snow in the background, clear skies the superlatives go on....The best way to appreciate it is to go there words don't do the view and surrounds justice.

Wow - stunning views and plenty of fish. We had a few fun trips last week out on the lake and managed to catch a few trout and a salmon.

We loved this place, full of interest, and very beautiful. Outings from here might be to Arrowtown - seeing the Gold Rush village, and especially the excellent Museum with its photographs and lively models.

Plenty of free parking beside the lake and close to all the shops. Bathing and other water sports make the lake an ideal place for a day in the sun

This is a gem of a town and the locals (local New Zealanders) would probably like to keep it that way. It's quaint, beautiful, and serene. if you like to take long walks, there's a great walking trail around the lake. We rode a bike along the lake with some breathtaking views. Lake Wanaka is like a postcard.

Very pretty place. Make sure you hire a bike from Racers Edge and go for a ride around the lake to Albert Town. The lake and the Cluther River are both beautiful. You will see things you never could from the road. The staff at Racers Edge are friendly and helpful and it only costs $30 for 4 hours of bike hire. One of the best things we did during our 3 week visit to NZ. The lake path is good most of the way and easy. However, in a few sections it is a bit scary and at least intermediate. We did not want to end up in the river or down on the rocks, so had to get off a few times. Well worth doing.

Lake Wanaka offers pretty views. Not on a par with Lake Tekapo, but worth a walk along the lakefront.

The lake and views are lovely. It is a cute town; fun to walk around in. Lots of restaurants from which to choose.

We love it here. Everything is so compact and quaint. We like to stay at the Lakeside Apartments which is so convenient to the town and has a great view.

Only regret not staying longer. This is a wonderful place. The drive from Queenstown is one of the best drives anywhere - amazing scenery. Then the lake delivers on all fronts. Beautiful and peaceful and plenty to explore. The town is vibrant with heaps of quirky shops, art and gifts and great food options plus all the supplies etc you could need. Not to be missed.
