The outside market has many farmers stalls which sell both local and imported produce, as well as two cheese stores, a wine store specialising in locally produced spirits and a fish store. Quality is usually very good, although bargains are quite rare.

I enjoy market shopping. Atwater has a variety of green grocers, butcher shops, fruit, cheese, baked goods all under one roof.

My husband and I enjoyed visiting this market. Open air, but also covered shops which made it nice when the rain fell. Plants, flowers, meats, pasta, deli, fruits, coffee shops, pies. Vendors were very friendly. Produce was beautiful. I wished I could get more through customs. Our salad and dessert for supper was full of market memories.

A market is always a great place to mingle with the locals, sample the local fare and specialties. Christmas trees and decorations vendors outside the Market added to the festivity. Go early, have breakfast or brunch at the Premiere Moisson Bakery, shop for your cheese platter, terrines and cold meats from the very excellent Fromagerie Hamel..........could easily eat my way around till the arteries clogged!A very good range of pre-cooked meals ranging from classic French to Mediterranean vendors as well. Arghh, life's too short to eat badly, come sample how to eat well without maxing your credit cards.

IF you go to Montreal for a day or two and you love great food, then a stop here is a must. It is so easy to get to as there is an exit off highway 20 coming in either direction which will bring you right to the market. You can also ride to it from Old Montreal to shop for a perfect picnic. There are cheeses from around the world. Absolutely amazing selection of cold cuts, meats, sausages. There is a bakery that i just want to move into! Pick up some fresh flowers or few choice fruits and bring it all back to your hotel room for an experience to remember. The best thing about this market is you get this amazing selection of food from all around the world in a unpretentious atmosphere. Try to go in the summer if possible when is swells to twice the size but a mid-winter visit will not disappoint.

Our third visit to Montreal from the UK, and our third visit to Atwater was as much fun as ever. We love all the stalls displaying fresh flowers, vegetables, meats, cheeses and fish. Christmas trees were also available on this visit! We always buy ingredients for a home cooked meal here, and often partake of a croissant and coffee in the boulangerie cafe. My son and his girlfriend are very lucky to live in such a wonderful city with such a great local market.

After spending two nights in Montreal, we were on our way to travel down the highway in Vermont to see the fall leaves. My brother who lives in Vermont recomended that we stop at the Atwater Market to get a picnic lunch for our days travel. He has never given me better advice. Beautiful cheeses, breads and chocolates. I purchased a Fromage d'Affinois that was out of this world.Got a lovely loaf of bread and two plums. A wonderful tart and a Napolian was the final purchases for our picnic. I wished that we had stopped coming into Montreal as we had purchased snacks at the Couche tard that i would have rather gotten here. We did run into one hicup as there were some shop owners that would only deal in Canadian money but there was a nice chap that gave us some of his in exchange so no worries.

If you enjoy walking around a big, open market and sampling unpasteurized cheeses, beautiful macarons, fresh baguettes and artisan charcuterie (and honestly, if you don't, there's something wrong with you), a visit to Atwater Market is a crucial part of any trip to Montreal.

As an ex Montrealer it was great to visit the Atwater Market again! One of our favorite shops was the Cheese place that carries over 800 different cheeses! We had one of the best cannola EVER!!!

When in Montreal and want to visit a true food market head to Jean Talon. Atwater is a bit too prepackaged. Jean Talon market I would classify as one of the best food markets in the world.

Although I agree that the produce and cheese quality and selection was pretty great, but it was smaller than I expected (coming from someone who's familiar with Philadelphia's Italian Market (Open markets), maybe it was because it was November... the prices at the market definitely match the posh area ($$), although can't find many places in US where you can buy 60 day dry-aged beef ribs from the butcher. Also please be advised: (especially US visitors), I was disappointed to find that their ATMs do not accept VISA debit cards (I didn't bring enough cash ans wasn't will to get a cash advanced on my credit card, I believe they only accept MasterCard, AMEX and some other card.. If you want a bigger, cheaper (IMO better) version of the Atwater Market in Montreal that accepts my american Visa debit card, go to Marché Jean-Talon, it a little farther into City but well worth the longer drive.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Atwater Market. The outside displays of fruit and vegetables were lovely. Also very interesting were the butchers and cheese providors inside. The highlight for a sweet tooth like me however was the bakery/patisserie at the Lachine Canal end of the market. You could have left me there for a few weeks and carried me out dead from overconsumption, but with a huge smile on my face. The pastries and coffee were to die for!Highly recommend a visit to Atwater Market for anyone who is visiting Montreal and has an interest in food.

Full of delicious produce to see, touch and smell even on a blustery cold morning in October.A combination of shop like stalls inside and market stalls outside. The market also has free wifi which we found helpful in planning the next step of our discovery of Montreal.

It's not on our plan, but this market turned out to be a highlight of our Montreal trip. Chocolate, breads, cakes and fruits! We will definitely come back!绝对推荐!非常有本地特色的市场和食品。一定要试试chocolates privilege 的自产巧克力和甜品,还有PREMIERE MOISSON的法式面包,更可以在那里用早餐!

What a suprise find! A food store selling authentic tasting Singaporean Laksa. I finally found a place that serves Laksa as good as the hewker store in Singapore!
