On a whim, while driving by, we followed the signs to the Chutes Coulonge, expecting a pretty panaramic view, from our car, of some waterfalls. WRONG ! - We were delighted to find a carefully thought-out, safe and nature-respecting environment where we enjoyed the pleasure of a walk under a canopy of mature trees, all the while hearing the falls and seeing the mist rising over the canyon. Without reserving ahead one cannot partake in the zip-lining or climbing along the falls that so many folks were clearly enjoying to the fullest. We were very impressed by the quality of the installations (safety, blending in with the landscape) and the attention paid to giving the visitor the history and grandeur of the logging world when Canada was young. The black and white photos montages with good explanations created a chronological story of the region's history. We'll reserve for the activities and plan to bring our grandchildren here too, all in all a wonderful surprise in a beautiful site. Well done ! Oh yes: Inexpensive ($8.00) for the self-guided tour.

The chutes provide an excellent get-away from the summer heat, being nestled in the well-treed west Quebec countryside. Apart from strolling along well cared for footpaths where you can take in the Coulonge River as it descends the gorge where the zipliners zip by with joyous screams of glee.Well worth an afternoon's visit where you can take in some of the Ottawa Valley logging and lumbering history .

We drove Chutes mid-May expecting the park would be open to enjoy the falls in their full glory with such a late melt and such high water. Our bad. Regrettably - due to high water and a very late Spring - the park was still closed. However - in response to an enquiring email to the park - the park staff responded beyond belief to accommodate another visit. And that we did ! Super high kudos to the park for such a warm, accommodating welcome last weekend - on a terrific sunny Saturday afternoon. The park has done a wonderful job of connecting the amazing regional logging history with a viewing of the falls. Great site, great bridges and walkways and a pleasure to roam at will - with the added bonus of fearless - and amazingly silent - zip liners buzzing across the lower chasm above our heads. it was an absolute pleasure to visit Chutes Coulonge again ! Living in the Ottawa Valley rocks ! Post script - while we didn't book a session on the forest / via ferrata / zip line option - nothing on that treat should be underestimated. All that is nothing but sheer adrenaline and FUN !

Hey everyone. I live in Coulonge. I moved here 4 years ago. I did because I fell in love with it. Chutes of Coulonge are the most beautiful falls in 300+kms. If you come you will not be disappointed. Come for the experience stay for the kinship!

Not that it was our intention, but we were the first couple to climb walk the Via Ferrata since the July 19th storm, that brought down trees and damaged to tree top walking course of the park. We may even have made the local evening news, who were present for the re-opening, but we didn't get to see it on TV.Out of a group of eight we were the only two that went through the complete course. It could be considered "rock climbing for dummies" with all the conveniently anchored steps in generous spacing and steel rope to tie off too along the way. It was exceptionally well done, with zip lines across the canyon, balancing along narrow beams and walking a tight rope bridge with convenient rope railings. A tremendous amount of fun, with a breathtaking view of the canyon that makes up the Coulonge River. A great way to safely get introduced to some aspect of rock climbing and heights. We had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this park to anyone with a spirit of adventure and love of nature. For a more detailed review, please check out our blog including pics and video: http://www.drdnaturopath.com/index.php/bon-echo-to-ottawa-part-3/

Sorry to say the day we picked to go was just after a big storm that did a lot of damage to the Chutes so it was closed temporarily. Really hope they can get it up & running again soon as we understand it is fantastic.

Never have done this before. Both my husband and I are seniors. We decide to try zip lining. The staff are very well trained, encouraging and patient. We did the 9 zip and the canyon. The water was not running but that did not detract from the experience.I was not sure that I was going further than the first parrot ladder climb. After encouragement from the staff and my husband I did the whole thing. Thanks guys. We had a great time!

We did the Let'er Zip package which is the 8 tree-to-tree zip lines as well as the 2 giant zip lines over the canyon (the first is 250m long and the other 100m!). Wow! What a rush! Especially the 2 giant zip lines. I'm not afraid of heights and had gone zip lining before but having to push off on the giant zip line above the rapids really got my heart pumping. My wife almost chickened out but she was totally excited once she had done it. We had our 3 kids with us (14,13, and 8). The youngest was not able to do the zip lining as he was too short (min height is 4'10"). Instead, he did the kids park twice under the supervision of his grandmother. Be advised that the kids park takes 5-10 min to complete but the zip lining takes anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on how many people are there, especially in front of you. Don't expect to send your younger ones alone to the kids park while you do the zip lining... Another thing to note is that there were some young girls (maybe 10 or 11 yrs old) that were just the minimum height and they had a real hard time getting through the zip lining course. The park recommends a minimum age of 12 and I totally agree with that. Our 13 and 14 year old got through it no problem. The staff was very friendly. Ample parking. They accept credit and debit. You should call and reserve your time slot in advance. You can bring your own picnic. They sell ice cream, snacks, and drinks.Overall, a great adventure for the family!

We did the zip linning and rock climbing and we had such a blast! The guide was great, very patient with me being a bit scared of heights. I never once felt rushed and really got to take time to enjoy everything. I also felt very safe, specially during the rock climbing which got pretty scary at times. It was my husbands birthday and got the birthday deal which was a great deal! I would definitatly recommend, worth the extra drive!!

WOW, what a once in a life time experience! We arrived and it was drizzling a little bit, thunder and some lighting. We were advised that they were watching radar and would not let us go out in conditions that were not safe. We waited about 45 minutes for storm to pass over and we were givin the all clear to go.We got our gear, felt that they did a good job to make sure all things were secure. Our guide took us to the training area there were 9 in our group, perfect size, as we were all new to this. I should also mention this was on a Monday, very light crowd. We never felt rushed!! Our guide took his time explaining everything, and covering all the do and don'ts very good. Once we were done with that, he had us go to the first tree and start our climb. I am very afraid of heights, and my family wasn't quite sure I would complete this, but I felt this is a once in a life time experience and I was going to try it. After finishing the first zip line, I truly liked it, I wasn't any more comfortable standing that high on a platform in a tree. In fact, I became very good at tree hugging!! : )We finished all the tree to tree zips in the forest and headed to the big zip lines over the canyon. I am sure I would have found this beautiful had I been below looking up, but truly this was scary. Our guide gave us gloves and showed us what we had to do differently, watch for signs given to us by the other guide, who was already over at the other side. He told us that we would reach speeds of over 55 mph, you don''t have time to enjoy the sights, your only goal is to catch the rope at the other side, which isn't hard, but trust me, I was NOT going to miss that rope and have to pull my self back over the canyon. : )We did another zip line back over the canyon and completed our afternoon. I have to tell you this was a great experience, with super guides, who took time with you, and made sure that you knew what to expect.Worth every dollar we spent. I give this an excellent rating because of the staff, the teaching us the technical stuff, and the fun of it all.

I would've given it a 5 star but I'm afraid of heights and this activity I definitely will not do again. If you don't mind heights go for it I think the highest point was 180' above the chutes. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.

We made a special trip to Quebec to do these zip wires, which we really enjoyed. There was good attention to care and safety. We had been told the session would last two hours but various people were "added on" to our group for the final long zip which meant that in the end we were out for over 3 hours and had a fair bit of hanging around (though not literally!) waiting for the rest of the group etc.
