This historic lighthouse, the tallest in Canada, is no longer being looked after by the Canadian Coastguard Service, so is now starting to fall into disrepair, with several large cracks appearing in the masonry. It is, therefore, no longer accessible to public entry, but you can walk all around it. The situation is very picturesque, and is steeped in history. (From here General Wolfe's fleet was first sighted in 1759, on its way up the St Laurence to Quebec City.) Well worth a visit.

We took photos from a distance as access was not available! I love to see these Beacons and the history they hold! Lovely small community! Part of the trip around the complete Gaspe! Make sure you travel on a sunny day!

Saw the Lighthouse and unfortunately the location was closed but able to walk around the site on our own. Interesting the the things our forefathers had to do and did it very well. Didn't realize this was done in the 50's and I was born in the 40's so it is almost recent. Glad the foghorn was blowing. What a fantastic view to the park and the mountains there..

Avant ou après une promenade près du phare, il faut passer par L'Anse au Griffon. Pour y manger, y boire et simplement s'y asseoir face à la mer pour mieux la contempler. Au chaud l'hiver et sur la terrasse l'été! Et prenez le temps d'admirer l'escalier, une oeuvre d'art en soi. Aussi, mémorisez bien la phrase écrite sur le mur. Elle vous reviendra souvent à l'esprit une fois que vous aurez quitté la Gaspésie. Pour moi, c'est cette phrase qui fait que j'y retourne si souvent!

Crèmerie excellente, puisqu'on y fabrique de la crème glacée molle dense, où aucunes bulles d'air n'est présente! Ça prend beaucoup de temps la manger.

Visite très intéressante en grande partie grâce a la passion des personnes qui font les visites. La visite dure un peu plus d une heure, on en redemanderait presque !

Les phares de Gaspésie sont tous merveilleux quant à la vue et leur emplacement... Celui-là nous comble aussi pour la longue baie qui prolonge le site et les phoques qui nagent pas très loin... Un ensemble splendide qui combine toutes nos attentes de panorama naturel...
