No questioning the beauty of the ancient trees in this nicely preserved layby; just a shame that the near constant traffic noise detracts from fully enjoying the majesty of mother nature at this location.

You need to stop in here on your travels. You can do the south side trail in 10mins, but take a half hour and really educate yourself and drink in the amazing beauty of the giant trees and the rainforest itself.

A must see if you're in the area. This beautiful old growth forest is a short trail full of wonderfully large Douglas fir trees and red cedars. Very calming and serene. The park is very well maintained and the paths are easy to walk, even for those with limited mobility. Wheelchair access is possible but tricky in spots. Literally right off of the highway.

The views of hundreds of year old trees was breath taking. The path however could use some gravel it is in a rainforest so it is rather muddy.

This was such a great experience to wander around these majestic giants!! We were in awe of these beautiful trees!! We were fortunate to visit midmorning on a day that wasn't very busy so we didn't feel rushed at all. I kept wondering to how many things have changed in the world while these beautiful trees have been standing!!! Quite a peaceful setting to spend a few moments reflecting!! Simply amazing!

There is nothing bad to say about this place. There could be more parking, but that would just take away from the majestic "middle-of-nowhere" nature of the forest. I got to come on a day that was relatively quiet, just overcast but not rainy, during the "off" season. I brought my Nikon and spent probably 1.5 - 2 hours just walking, taking pictures, and being quiet & calm. It was so relaxing & it's hard to explain, but you really feel connected to nature being in an old-growth rain forest. There is something about it (at least for me) that is just SO therapeutic. I left feeling euphoric & relaxed. Go at a slow pace, really take it in, and try your best to be quiet & still. Wonderful & not to be missed. Outhouses only.

We were there in the off season (winter), and the traffic on the road was incredibly heavy, making us wonder how easy it would be to cross the road in the high season. The walks are lovely, the trees amazing, and the stories about the history of the area are charming and interesting to read. Good for all ages.

I was lucky enough to visit very early one morning when there was only one other family on both trails:) the quite and the sheer beauty of this place is hard to put into words. I choked up a bit:)You should stop and take some time here.

The trees here have much to say.... obviously not in words, but in energy exchange. They've been around a long time and I thank them with every ounce of my being! I am glad i made the 2 hour trip to see this place. Id recommend this to anybody.

Cathedral grove is not a long hike, but a beautiful, lush, green walk through monstrous Douglas Fir. I think I could walk it everyday and enjoy it each time.

I went there with friends on our trip through the Vancouver Island. Cathedral Grove is easy accessible from the main road with free parking. There are few paths to choose from. Trees over there are huge. We were very happy that we got that opportunity to see them. You will need approx. 1 hour to go through all main paths. It is really worth it. That place got some amazing photo opportunity. Highly recommended to everyone.

This old growth forest is aptly named. The sight is breathtaking, the atmosphere as you stroll through trees that are almost 1,000 years old is spiritual. There is a calmness that descends over you as you try to take in the story of what it must have been like in this part of our great country. Close to the highway and beautifully taken care off without disturbing nature. A must do on the island. Don't miss it.

This place is very busy but the forest of giant trees is worth a stop. However, I was expecting picnic tables to prepare sandwiches but there were none so plan accordingly (there are picnic areas before you get there).

There is something about strolling among these giant trees that is humbling and relaxing. Over 800 years worth of growth this incredible forest tells a story. Love this walk, it is good for all ages!

It gives a real impression of a rain forest. The lichen and moss is everywhere on the fallen trees and in great strings hanging from those standing. Quite a sight and just by the roadside.
