The museum exceeded my expectations. There was so much to see and do from the history to hands on gold panning. I was especially impressed by the fact that during the actual tour of the mine the tour guide powers on and operates equipment to demonstrate how the equipment works and what it would have been like to work in the mine.

The copper mine tour is will worth the money, my 6 year old nephew just loved it. its will organized, informative, lots to see and do. the highlight for us was the train ride through the mountain, even though very short, the tour inside explaining how the minors worked and the equipment they used right down to their toilet was amazing. A must see if you are in the area.

We decided to visit the Mine Museum one day to take a break from skiing in Whistler. We were very impressed. The gift shop, museum, exhibits, and tour were all top notch. There are interactive exhibits, panning for gold, a sandbox for little ones with lots of toy trucks, and a very interesting informational video. The tour was great. We rode the small train inside the mine and learned a lot about the life of the miners and the history of the mine. We spent 3 hours there including visiting the gift shop, tour, museum, and walking around at our own pace. Our kids are 7 and 10 and both were very impressed and loved the panning for gold, the interactive exhibits, and the tour. The 7 year old loved the sandbox play area. The tour involved a little bit of walking uphill and steps, as well as a dark tunnel, so keep that in mind if you have any physical limitations, are claustrophobic, or kids are afraid of the dark. It's also much better if the weather is nice, as many of the old historic tools and machinery are outside. There are many good photo opportunities, so enjoy!

This Museum is an awesome place to tour. Going underground for that portion of the tour was a blast, including a small train ride. The Mill building is impressive , as are other artifacts and buildings around the site filled with displays. Not all that far from Vancouver, with a nice view of Howe Sound in parts. Food selection was very-limited as it was February, slow tourist season.

Was way better than I expected. Get to go on a cool little ride inside the mine shaft in a rail car. You learn quite a bit about the history of the mine and see the conditions the workers had to endure at different points in time. Also, you can pan for gold, which the kids love!

This was appropriately the best museum ever that I visited in my life of adventure.Exploring ancient mine shafts and dwarfing through the history of mining was a enjoyable experience for a history buff like me!This was our one and only time there and I admit that this is Definitely a really cool mine museum! They mined a lot of copper, gold, silver, zinc and other important materials used in development of new technologies. This site was very great and a important cultural icon that represents the mining industry as a whole!

Always wanted to stop here. We had a great time. Interactive exhibits were fun and interestigg. Mine tour was good even got to pan for gold. Definitely worth stopping in

Definitely a really cool mine museum. They primarly used to mine copper here, but found a bunch of other precious metals in the mountain too. The tour is the best part.We had a young lady, I'm not sure her name. But there were a ton of kids in our group and she handled them so well (when their parents wouldn't....). It was cool because she was able to show us what it was like for the miners and how the machines were used instead of just telling us.Britannia itself is a very small town, but the tour of the mine is worth the stop!

IMO this is the best museum in BC, lots of neat things to see and touch. Some tv shows and movies were filmed here and you even get to mine for gold flakes! Absolutely love it and would go back for sure!!!

This is a great museum and really gives you a good idea of the booming industry this once was, and the life the workers had. We have driven by here so many times on our way to and from Whistler. We only stopped here on this trip because we had an out of country visitor with us who is a real history buff. We really regretted not stopping in sooner. This is one of the most interesting museums we have ever seen. Wear sturdy clothing and bring a jacket though. I just showed up in shorts, sandals and it was cold in the tunnel part of our visit.

What a great place this is. Plenty to see and do. There is a short film near the entrance to give you an idea of what went on in the past.Highlight of the visit is the guided tour inside the mine itself starting with a short railway journey. Demonstrations inside the tunnels were very good.Lots of external buildings to explore on your own. Can even try panning for gold.....yes there is real fools gold hiding in the sand but dig deep, as old prospectors know gold settles to the bottom!!Leave yourself plenty of time for this attraction. We visited on the trip back from Whistler and only had 2 hours as it was closing time. Could have done with a lot longer. On a downside, there was no refreshments available on the day we went, so it might be an idea to take some with you just in case.A must see when in the area.

Coming from New Zealand this slice of history was really interesting. We spent over 2 hours at this attraction and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Tour by mine train thorough a small section of the mine tunnel was excellent, informative and enjoyable. We could of spent much longer exploreing but we were short of time. It did at first seem a little expensive but at the end we all felt it was money well spent.

When driving to Whistler we came along this museum and decided to stop for a visit. It was very interesting and we all (3 adults, 2 kids) liked it. We started with some "gold digging" which was real fun. Later we took a little train and got a tour from an ex-mine worker. His stories were great and he really made the experience complete. He also took all the time for questions and some more explaining. Perfect!

We were treated to a short trip through the mine on an old mine car and shown the various tools that miners used. It was an eye opening experience to understand how mining was done years ago and still is today in some areas. This is a great piece of history that is worth preserving and sharing. Being able to go inside the semi-restored crushing and extraction building on the side of the mountain was awe inspiring. Our guide did an excellent job. Well done!

Hello Wanita,Thank you for posting your comments on our TripAdvisor page. We're sorry to hear you felt rushed during your visit to the museum. We strive to ensure each guest has a positive experience and are concerned you had concerns regarding the tour. I have brought up your concerns with the our Museum Director along with our Operations staff. It seems this year we have experienced tremendous growth and this may have accounted for some shifts in the tour to accommodate for busier days. Your comments reminds us of the importance of each guests experience so again, this is something we can address. We should note that we are much less per ticket than the Squamish Gondola -- the Museum is $25 for adults; the Gondola is 34.95 per adult. The Museum is a non-profit organization. All ticket sales go to supporting operations and school programs.
