This is a world renowned site for all visitors to western Newfoundland. You can climb a mountain! You can take a boat ride! You can camp out or rent a cabin or lodge. This is great for families, couples or people travelling alone.I've travelled here and camped when my sons were young. My sons and father climbed the mountain, without hiking gear or water. I recommend good hiking boots, snacks and lots of water!I've taken two American friends to the site of a boat tour of the fjords. I've brought them to a dinner theatre near Rocky Harbour. We stayed in log cabins near the road. On two occasions I've visited with three aunts. We journeyed on to St. Anthony and visited Lanse Aux Meadows, had a karaoke night with two of my friends on a birthday. All great fun!So I think you should book a place to stay and go and enjoy the walking trails, climb Gros Morne and enjoy some Newfoundland food in Rocky Harbour.

We really enjoyed Gros Morne National Park. There was so much to see and do. Head out to Trout River and stop to see the Tablelands. The walk to the Tablelands is not long but some older people like myself may find it a little hard on the knees. We wanted to do Green Gardens but decided not to because of all the stairs. Highly recommend this place. We will have to come back to Newfoundland to see more!

If plate tectonics, supercontinents and continental drift are your type of things... then Gros Morne NP should be on your bucket list! The park has been shaped over 485 million years. It is a humbling experience to stand next to a wall that has been uplifted and shows the earth's mantle lying exposed. Things to do - The tablelands hike, cruising Western Brook pond, green point park ranger tour (where you get to see the stratotype section with layers of shale, limestones and some fossils as well) and the green gardens hike are a must. Check out Java Jacks if you are in the area!

Well.. what can I say.. I spent more than a week here.. a lot to do and all different.. beautiful trails/ beach/ hikings/ boating/ camping.. I love Gros Morne National park.. just beautiful place.. you need a car to go around.. will save you a lot time.. be prepared for the trip and enjoy the facilities the park provide.. I love the tourist information.. very helpful.. People in Newfoundland are super!!

The trails were fabulous, albeit Gros Morne Mountain was a little tough. Beware, some trails have fords (e.g., the northern portion of the Green Gardens trail has 2 fords if you want to get back to the Long Point trailhead, only 1 required if you go to Wallace Brook but then you have to walk the road back to your car or have arranged a car shuttle).

This park on the west coast of Newfoundland is a geologic and historical gem. Like only a few National Parks, this park continues to host human settlement. Settlements that long preceded the park and represents a way of life for many Newfoundlanders who settled the area. The fjords, many which are now miles from the coast are geomorphology in action. Everyone has seen the spectacular pictures of Western Pond, once a salt water fjord, now almost 2 kilometres from the ocean and containing a long fresh water lake. Similarly the earth's mantle is exposed in the park. No where in the world do you see the bare mantle. Similarly, Gros Morne the large rounded mountain speaks to a long extinct volcano turned on its side, a long time traveller of continental drift, it is geologically linked to what is today modern South Africa. Amazing sites, waterfalls, native caribou and lots and lots of that invading species - the moose. Moose easily outnumber the permanent residence in the park and you do need to pay close attention when driving through the park in case these speed bumps decide to wander out on the highway. Thank you Canada for preserving this corner of unique nature and environment for my children and my children's children.

The scenery was stunning. The weather was terrible and beautiful at the same time. It's a ways to the Park, so plan on spending some time there to see it all.

Gros Morne National Park is one of the most popular spots of Newfoundland. Found on the west coast of Newfoundland a 12 hour drive from St. John's their capital. The views are spectacular and there are trails for all ages and strengths. Easy to hard trails. If you are lucky you might see a moose and calf feeding along the trail. 1km to all day hikes. Some are w/c assessable such as boardwalks. The Fjords are a must see which is part of Gros Morne National Park with a hour board walk then a boat tour. There is also a boat tour out of Rocky Harbour where you might see orca's, humpback or eagles flying overhead. I went in August and the couple of days that I spent there were wonderful.

I absolutely loved this park and wish we had more time to explore and do some hiking. We did the fjord boat trip on a hot sunny day. A 2 or 3 km walk in on manageable ground for all brings you to a restaurant and the dock. The boat takes you into the fjord which is awesome with the cliffs rising straight up on either side. The tour boat guide was full of information and history. Great tour!! We drove through the tablelands where nothing grows and the rock is red. Would of loved to keep going. We will be back for sure.

One of the most naturally beautiful places in the world, I'm sure !! The drive into Rocky Harbour and beyond is lovely, and the fjord trip is a spectacular with the cliffs being more than 700 ft.

A beautiful part of Newfoundland to visit. Even though the weather during our visit was horrible, we loved all of it.

We stopped in Corner Brook, Newfoundland on a cruise ship and rented a car and drove out to Gros Morne. It was a long drive, but it was really beautiful. Wish we could have spent more time here but since we were on a cruise ship, we wanted to see some of Corner Brook also before getting back on the ship.

You must do take Bontour Fjord tour. Its a 3 kilometer walk to the boat but its an easy walk. A must see!We also went to see the Tablelands. Not as spectacular as the book said. If you are pinched for time skip it.

It was quite a long drive from St John's to Gros Morne National Park but it was well worth it! Not only are the view spectacular in the park, there is much diversity in the scenery and surroundings. Rocky coastline, forest, high mountains and fjords, waterfalls, sandy beaches and barrens. There are dozens of walking trails ranging from short leg-stretcher trails to all-our day long excursions. Wildlife is plentiful too with fox and caribou being the most common sights. You can see the park in one day but I advise you spend at least 2 days, There are hotels in and around the park area and camping is available in several locations.

Will be coming back many more times. This was an incredible trip. You could literally stay weeks and still not see everything!I would highly recommend hiking Green Gardens and Gros Morne Mountain if you are feeling up to it. The sights are breathtaking!
