if you have a chance to tour thinkers lodge you are lucky. There is a feeling of oneness and harmony radiating from its grounds. The nostalgia is funky, and the vibe is so positive, its hard to describe, its experiential. not often do you see a nobel peace prize, and sense the importance of higher thinking. People were very hospitable, informitive, and gracious. Free tea and cookies in a gorgous setting. a hidden jem in pugwash.

Open only 4 days of the week, with limited hours, the house isn't even sign posted on the road. We drove right past it at first, and given how small the town it, that says something about how much they've let it fade into the background! Its sad that the people of Pugwash and the Governments of Canada and NS have let the connection between the town and site of the first great conference on peace, and the organisation "Pugwash" has become, lapse and fade. This place is a best viewed by placing yourself in the footsteps of people like Einstein, and sitting where they sat, contemplating the view they watched as they considered the future (or potential lack thereof) of the world as they saw it in 1957. Its more interesting because of the event and the people than the structure is of itself. Read up on Pugwash before you get here, even briefly, it will make all the difference.

This is a review of a place not seen. We went to Pugwash because of its fame as the centre of the disarmament movement but didn't know about Thinker's Lodge or Cyrus Eaton We asked locally. Response from one of the inhabitants, we fight so much among ourselves we don't have time for peace conferences. lol. Maybe some effective marketing on the part of Parks Canada would have helped?

The Cyrus Eaton house and its history are really interesting, but the entire house can be done in about 5 minutes. Not sure what could be done - a little more indepth interpretation might help. Worth a look, tho.

The Thinkers' Lodge national historic site is located on picturesque Water street in Pugwash, and I am SO glad we decided to stop in. The Thinkers' Lodge is where the nuclear disarmament movement began in 1957, and will soon be home to a nobel peace prize! Absolutely stunning views and very helpful and knowledgable staff. I would recommend a visit to this beautiful historic site to anyone and everyone. Thanks so much! One small down side of the site- no public washrooms are on the premises!
