arisaig lighthouse and lobster interpretive centre

We chose to take a detour along the Sunrise Trail before heading to Antigonish for an overnight stop as we wanted to see some of the lovely coast line of Nova Scotia rather than travelling on the direct routes. We stopped at Arisaig and discovered that the lighthouse was about to close for the season - it was being used as an icecream and light refreshments shop and no longer functioned as a lighthouse although it does have a navigational light on it.However, the lobster interpretive centre was very interesting - we watched a film on the life cycle of a lobster and there were many old photographs to look at.The small harbour which is home to 23 boats made for a pleasant afternoon saunter as did the local beach.
