We live nearby so it is an easy walk with the dog. With all the waterfront work completed, it is a wonderful place for a walk - and assume picnic next summer when the parks are completed. The town has done a great job. You can walk the whole lake, and go through Oak Ridges for lunch - it is almost exactly 5 km.

Lake Wilcocx, a kettle lake on the Oak Ridges Moraine is a great place for a walk, a swim or a paddle. Its been recently renovated and now includes a lovely boardwalk. Take a look around at the native inspired art. Just up the road is the new Oak Ridges Community Center and Eco-Center where visitors can learn more about the lake and the natural surroundings. Parking is available, as well as picnic facilities.Visitors interested in getting in the water should check ahead to make sure the water is safe to swim in. Sometimes access to the water is limited for environmental reasons. If the Canoe School is open I'm sure they will be able to help (also the above mentioned community center).

Love how it has been fixed...looks beautiful. Makes spending time close to the water much more serene.

Been going to Lake Wilcox since 1952. It's a spring-fed lake. Used to be a beautiful little spot with picnickers and great swimming years ago. Up until the early 60's you walked through the pavillion and paid to swim. They stamped your hand so you could come and go from the grassy hill to picnic and then return down to the beach area.Unfortunately, it's been discovered by too many. Overcrowded and the grassy hill has been ripped out for parking to accommodate the droves of people that frequent it and bring their dogs. Used to get access to the lake from Bethesda but it's all been ripped out and blocked out for no vehicle access.
