We love playing tourist. And this gem is in our own town. Thoroughly enjoyed wandering through the House and the docents were knowledgeable, able to answer some of our esoteric questions, and shared a lot of Eldon family history. Always fun to see how folk once lived and let your imagine run with it. Don't forget to check out the out-buildings! Inside and out, this was a pleasant surprise. Will visit again.

A Century old home restored to its original beauty. This is a can't miss when visiting London. We enjoyed the historical perspective that the volunteers gave us.

I enjoyed walking through this house and learning about the people that lived here long ago. The gardens are beautiful too.

What a perfect way to start the New Year - by looking into the past! Historic Eldon House hosted a levee which was in keeping with its 180 year old traditions. It was decorated for a Victorian Christmas and the staff and volunteers were decked out in period costumes. A choir sang carols in the drawing room to entertain the 100 or so visitors. Tea and sweets were served in the interprtation room. It was a delightful afternoon.

I have visited this site several time as I grew up in London. They have really done a terrific job of Keeping everything original and interesting. I recently enjoyed a school trip their with my daughter and the tour was informative and interesting for the kids.

Being in the house really makes you wonder what it was like to live there way back when! It's also interesting to see the house dolled up during the holidays in comparison to the gardens of flowers in the spring. Take the tour where you get to see the basement and attic!

We had a map that put the house in the wrong spot then there was road construction with road closures and tben we couldn't find parking.

Despite the road works causing a detour, we managed to find this museum. It is a mine of interesting artefacts and a wonderful collection left to the town by the family. It is said to be the oldest building in London. We were lucky enough to be the only visitors, so were able to take our time and view the exhibits at our leisure. It is amazing what some people collect. If in London, try to make time to visit this piece of history.

What a pleasant surprise to find this house in the middle of the city. Our guide gave us an interesting incite into the life of the family who lived in the house. A great collection of artifacts and furniture.

We visited Eldon House as part of the 2014 Open Doors. They did a fabulous job by having docents throughout the house. They are extremely knowledgeable and brought the history of the house to life. It is a fascinating house to visit and see the early life in London.

Besides visiting Covent Gardens in London, be sure to make a special trip to Eldon House, a heritage site and gardens, for afternoon tea and treats under the canopy of large trees behind this house. Small tables with tablecloths are scattered throughout the backyard. Afterwards be sure to visit the interior of this charming house which dates back to 1834 and contains many of the four generation's possessions from the late 1800's. The entrance fee is based upon donations. Use your GPS to locate this hidden treasure at 481 Ridout Street N.

History, mystery, romance, Eldon House has it all! Everyone living in London should visit this home. A real taste of what life was like for the first Londoners, and a thrilling story.

Enjoyed an afternoon on the lawn at Eldon House having tea and scones. The selection of teas is limited, however, the serving staff worked really hard carrying all of the items out to the tables. It was a warm day, and they were overheated but remained pleasant and friendly.Food was just average. Nice way to spend an afternoon though.

I was in London for a conference for a few days and was determined to visit one tourist attraction before leaving. Eldon House sounded like an easy place to get to and also offered some fine history about its owners. The house is like many historic homes in Canadian towns. Impeccably maintained with an excellent eye for detail. There are many artefacts that one can see in this home. Once you step inside, you are in the main hall of Eldon House. Look up and you see antler trophies from South Africa. One of the volunteer guides graciously welcomes you and gives you some background to the home before inviting you to go on a self conducted tour of the house. It's for every Downton Abbey fan who wishes to be in such an environment without having to fly to Europe. I loved looking at the kitchen, the food prep area and the maid's quarters. The house is not ostentatious but it is quite grand. On the fireplace, you will see original blue delft tiles from Holland. The lady of the house had some Dutch roots.During the summer, you can book an afternoon tea and sit in the gardens to contemplate life. This is $10 p.p and requires reservations. The tea runs from 2 to 4 pm.Admission is a suggested $5, well worth it to keep this house available and open to future visitors to experience.

The staff is really nice, taking the time telling us about the history of house. It's nice to see how a rich family lived in that time period. The horns on the wall are really cool.
