Planes on a pedestal, a little sad when I remember seeing these beautiful Golden Hawks in action.Beautiful lines, and a history as a great performer.

The Golden Hawk F86 has been a Brockville waterfront fixture for a very long time. This is an example of the Heritage this companies easily displays when it comes to making sure this country keeps the freedom earned over the last 200 years.

... the RCAF Golden Hawks were Canada's pre-eminent flight demonstration team. On a spit of land beside the Brockville marina, an F-86 Sabre painted in the Golden Hawks famed colours has been mounted atop a pole beside an information panel that gives a brief synopsis of the team's history. The Sabre's stored past includes serving the US Air Force combatting MiGs in the Korean War and providing several Canadian vertebrae in the spine of NATO's early cold-war front line air defence in Europe. Well worth a look for aviation buffs, RCAF vets or someone who just wants to see an up-close look at one of the all-time classics of early jet-age aircraft design.

While we were in Brockville for the annual Ribfest and to watch the cigarette boats race past on the St. Lawrence River we took a walk through the park where this jet is on display. I remember when I was a kid watching the Golden Hawks aerobatic air show on more than one occasion so seeing one of the original jets certainly brought back memories of that time, sorta like I had a connection.

Ever since I was a little girl growing up near Brockville, I remember visiting this park and looking up at this jet with amazement. I always thought it was neat how such a big jet could rest on a long pole of cemet. I could imagine myself in the jet flying through the blue skies to far off lands. Now that at I am older, I still enjoy seeing this jet. It brings back memories of my youth and the fond memories I have had near the River with my family - from picnics with fish and chips to attending Riverfest. I hope this jet stays on the cemet pole for a long time. My wife and I now take our kids to see the jet and they enjoy seeing it as much as we do - plust there is no cost to look at it.

A very cool exhibit, sure to be a hit with kids. Noted that the people in the area were very friendly. Are is safe and well-kept. Worth a look if you are in the area.

Brought back childhood memories of Air Force Day and the Golden Hawk displays. Glad to see one preserved in such a public area.

Its an old fighter jet on a pedestal at the end of blockhouse island. It may be interesting to speculate how they ever landed it there, but other than that, it could be a cannon or an old truck for all that matters.

My father flew that jet and had it placed on the pedestal. Great memories.

See a jet close up. Good for a picture with the family. Right on the water.

The Golden Hawks were a national aerobatic precision jet team that performed across Canada in the 1950 & '60s. This one was mounted in Brockville after the team moved on to newer planes for their precision performances. This is mounted on a concrete pedestal next to the Brockville harbour on the waterfront park they call Blockhouse Island.
