Highly recommended and a must see attraction on the island of Culebra. The water was great with no undertow and beautiful white sand.

This beach is a beautiful as it gets but is a very busy beach as far as Puerto Rico goes.If you are in the area it is worth the time time to stop. The snorkeling is very nice at both ends of the beach.

My husband and I were in Puerto Rico Feb. 21-28. I'd done a lot of research beforehand and knew Flamenco Beach was on my To Do list if we could make it work. I was adamant on not taking the ferry and flying. Sure, the ferry is cheaper. But standing in line for tickets, the potential sea sickness, and length of ride sold my case for flying. We flew out of Ceiba (we stayed in the Rio Grande area). It was a quick 15 min flight. Only had to be at the airport 30 min ahead of flight. It was $88 per person round trip. Money well spent, in my opinion. We took the 7:30 flight over there. We were on the beach by 8 am. That's how easy it was. It was nice being on the beach that early. There were not many people at all except people camping or staying close by. It was so peaceful and beautiful. There was probably 20 people at most on the beach when we arrived. As the day wore on, it got busier. But it never felt overcrowded. We went on a Thursday. Maybe other times are busier. We rented an umbrella and 2 chairs for $15. It was worth it to get out of the sun. The water is so crystal clear. It was a highlight of our trip and worth the hype. I dream of going back to Culebra and Flamenco Beach!

My friend and I spent an afternoon here the day after our cruise ended. The trip from San Juan is definitely out of the way, but totally worth it! I got a little sea sick on the boat ride from Fajardo, but the beach more than made up for it. I wish we could've stayed longer! Flamenco is absolutely beautiful. The water is so clear and surrounding area is untouched for the most part. It feels secluded from tourists activities, although there were quite a few people there. Don't let the crowds deter you though, it is a must see!! Can't wait to come back.

Has some algae (seaweed). Sometimes the waves can be rough at certain areas and a couple of timeswe had the stream make it difficult to return easly to shore. The beach should not be develop any further not to become a too developed since that's actually the charm of culebra. Maybe some facilities should be just remodeled or improved, just that. Should not give too much publicity or will be spoiled. Only considerate people (individuals with a nature conservative conciousness or peopke that enjoy it but who cares also. Should be prohibited to unconcious individuals who are selfish and do not care about taking care of protecting nature and environment! God bless Culebra!!

It is definitely worth the trouble to go to Culebra for the day. This beach is simply stunning, and the only beach I have ever been to that comes close to its beauty is Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii. Playa Flamenco is better- much fewer people, and better body surfing waves. The water was warm and clear, and together with the white sand made for stunning photos. The waves were perfect for body surfing and boogie boarding, and I didn't see my kids all day while we were here. They never left the water! There is a hotel farther down the beach from where the day trippers land, but it didn't interfere with our enjoyment of the day. On the very far right side of the beach there were 3 snorkeling cruises that arrived and stayed for an hour or two, but the passengers came nowhere near where we were.I understand that this place used to have no services, but now there are food trucks in the parking lot and you can buy water and meals if you didn't bring anything. This beach is still very far off the beaten path, and immensely enjoyable in terms of crowds, natural beauty, and wave quality. Ssshhh, don't tell anyone, so we can keep it that way!

On 3/3/15 my husband and I took the ferry from Farjado PR to Culebra. We had one destination in mind; Flamenco beach. We heard how beautiful it was and had to see it for ourselves. All the reviews that say it is stunning were correct. The sand was white and soft and the waters were the most beautiful aqua I have ever seen. Couple of pointers: 1) The ferry was ROUGH. No matter how much Dramamine costs, buy it. There is actually a man on the boat handing out barf bags. The beginning of the trip was calm, but as you get farther out it get VERY choppy. We sat on the top deck and got completely soaked. There was not a dry ounce of clothing on anyone sitting near us. It was like a scene out of "Deadliest Catch" when you see the boat in the rough seas. Several people were huddled in the back and they were so sea-sick. I felt bad for them. Even if you NEVER get sea-sick, you may if you do not take Dramamine. Now I have only traveled to and from once so the trip over may not be that bad all the time, but the fact they have an employee prepared with barf bags is a pretty good indicator. The trip back was fine. The seas were not rough, and it seemed no one was getting sick. 2) If you want to reserve ferry tickets, you must do it at least 10 days prior. You cannot other wise. We wanted to watch the weather so we bought tickets at the terminal the day of the trip. What we read was accurate; you must get there early. We were there 6:30-6:45 AM and there were about 20 people in front of us. Tickets sell out fast, so getting there early is a must. Also, be sure to buy a round trip ticket. The ferry we went on left at 9 AM and came back at 5 PM. You can check the times online. 3) When you arrive in Culebra, there are plenty of vans waiting to take people to the beach. It was $3 pp one way or $5 pp round trip. They have a few pick-up times from the beach. We opted for a 3 PM pick-up from the beach for we figured we could do some shopping near the terminal. When we got back there at 3:15, there was nothing open, and no shops to shop in. 4) When entering the beach, go far left or far right. Nothing wrong with finding the first available spot when you walk in but the beach is so pretty if you spread out. 5) Chairs and umbrellas were available. The chairs were not lounge chairs but were Tommy Bahama beach chairs. Very comfortable! They were $5 each. We did not rent an umbrella so I cannot comment on that. 6) There were food/alcohol kiosks that were open. Food was delicious and very reasonable. Although they were open while we were there, some commented on TA that they were closed while they were there. Beside the crazy ferry trip on the way over, I am glad we went. It certainly was stunning!

The beach itself was picture perfect amazing! Now some advice for overnight campers: We took the 3pm ferry on a Friday and once we got to the beach, it seemed like all the kiosks were closed. It was also infested with mosquitos! We didn't have a tent as we were planning to rent so we ended up finding a hostel called "Culebra International" which is right by the ferry. The hostel staff was amazing, location was great and the sleeping quarters were good. Advice: Bring some of your own food if you're camping, bring wet wipes, plenty of bug spray, bring your own camping gear or have a hotel booked. Grab a couple of cab phone #s in case as well OR rent a golf cart. Now for the snorkelers - there's a gate at the west end of the parking lot, it's locked and closed but you can still slip through. Walk the 15 minute trail and you'll be at a secluded beach with just a handful of other people. This was the best snorkeling we found during out entire stay in Puerto Rico!

Flamenco beach is one of the best beaches we have ever visited. Breezy, turquoise water, white sand and large enough to accommodate plenty of visitors without feeling crowded.

We've been to this beach a few times - once, we camped here one night back in 2011, and this year, we stayed for 6 days and nights at the Villas located on this beach. This beach really is all its cracked up to be. Beautiful sand, crystal clear water, etc. Depending on the surf for that day, you could enjoy body surfing on the waves, or if its calmer, sitting with a drink in the shallow water. There's also good snorkeling on the right hand side of the beach, where the rocks are. And you have to make sure to walk down and see the tanks on the left side. The stands at playa Flamenco are also handy to have around, for food or for a piña colada or for in a pinch if you forgot to bring sunscreen/bug spray. Overall, a great place to go! Even on the crowded days, its really not that crowded (though I've never been during a major holiday or anything like that).
