The hike to get there is a long walk, but interesting, with lots of nature and agriculture. The beach is beautiful, but not as scenic as Playita or Playa Fronton. Bring your snorkeling mass, there are lots of fishes - at least as long as the is no fish restaurant :-(

We traveled to Playa Madama via a small boat on our way to Playa Fronton. On the day we were there the beach was very difficult to reach. The boat ride was a bit scary with very large waves and huge cliffs. The beach was small and covered in seaweed. It is definitely not a swimming beach. It was a nice spot to rest for a few minutes before continuing on to Playa Fronton.

the stopped here in the way back from playa fronton (that is amazing btw) and we could not find anything special on this beach, it was full of algae and only a few people there, the rock cliffs on the left are beautiful, but if you are planning on doing the hiking down here I think you will lose time and will be disappointed

I'm sure the beach is great but unfortunately when we took the boat trip tour, the water level was too high and the beach was completely submerged and inaccessible. Our tour included Playa Fronton and Rincon which were beautiful, so made up for it.If you're planning to get here by yourself, you might want to check with a local first.

As part of a boat trip we stopped at the secluded Playa Madama beach. The beach itself wasn't all that special, but the Taino cave behind it was spectacular, with plenty of bats hanging from the ceiling.

We went to Playa Madama as part of a horseride trip. We totally did not expect it to be so beautiful. Guidebooks and blogs do not do this beach justice. It's isolated, in a cove, backdrop of jungle, and really not easy to get to. Sandy beach area is not so large. Shelf goes out far so you can be like 70 feet out and you're still standing easily. Lots of stuff to explore and several vista points. It's worth it to go there by boat or walking or horseback. Take a local or a guide with you though. The isolation can attract robbers and other people that may want to ruin your beautiful day on the beach. There are no facilities at all.

The drive is spectacular. You will enjoy every inch of the road. The beach is nice, but not the best for swimming. But the water color is tourquoise. Perfect view!!! Take a few hour to enjoy the beach. I didn't like that there are a lot of rock in the water

Las Galeras has some of the best, untouched beaches in the world. Book a boat and spend the day sailing to them. Playa Madama is so pretty and you could spend hours relaxing on its shores!

This is a beautiful little beach with a great cave to explore. This is well worth the trip, especially as part of a trip to Playa Fronton.

Really quiet beach after a long walk, but a real pleasure to stay here for a bath and a little nap!!!

The beach is beautiful with white soft sand. Just back from the beach there is a incredibly large cave that is beautiful inside. Just be sure to bring your shoes along, due to the rocky climb.

This is my favorite beach in the Las Galeras area. It's about an hour and a half from Las Galeras on foot or horseback, though the last bit is steep and you'll want to have decent walking shoes and you'll need to leave the horses behind. At least one of the companies that offers horseback riding excursions in the area offers overnight camping trips, too. If you go by boat, your captain can arrange for lunch to be cooked for you right there on the beach. Salad, rice and beans, fish or chicken. Or pack yourself a little picnic. The beach gets sun in the morning but, unless you're in the water, it's shaded by coconut trees from noon on. There's usually quite a lot of bird life and not too many people. It's very protected and safe even for young kids and those who don't swim well. Check out the cave, too, unless you don't like bats.

Probably the most beautiful and peaceful beach and bay I have ever experienced. Accessible only by boat, or a very long walk through "jungle" from Las Galeras. Behind the beach is a beautiful Caribbean "jungle", exactly what one would expect. The water of this bay is crystal-clear and completely calm. It has an atmosphere and ambience that is both unique and stunning.

While this is harder to get to than Playita beach it is much nicer. We were completely alone for most of the time we were here and with coconut trees and pristine light blue sea you get the full paradise package. We managed to walk here without a guide from Las Galeras, although we got detailed instructions before we set out. The walk took us about an hour and is well trodden enough that you don't need a machete.

And sometimes you are the only ones there...!!!! 1.5 hour walk from Las Galeras.... Along a road with / Houses.... then on a path that takes you through the jungle.. Easily walked w/ good shoes as there are rocks in the path.. Then down a small cliff edge to the beach level... Suggested for those that walk good...
