I went there with friends and we had a blast. With $40 we were very tipsy. The music is great! Lots of bachata, merengue, salsa and hip hop. There are many locals that want to teach you how to dance. I never felt uncomfortable and security is every where so you feel safe. Just make sure you have a ride there and back so you don't have to worry about. Is open until 6 am and doesn't start getting crowded til after midnight so get there early to get a table and chairs. No need to dress up, just go there semi casual and bring flats so you can dance all night.

Go to Drink Point in Bavaro if you want to experience the local nightlife. You will party with locals if you go to one of the larger clubs such as Imagine and Coco Bongo (that are often promoted by reps at the hotels). But the entire atmosphere will be catered to you, the tourist. And you will have a great time. But if you want to see what the locals really party like, go to Drink Point and enjoy a cozy atmosphere and learn to salsa with the locals!

This little bar in Bavaro was a great place to learn some salsa with the locals and it's open all night!

Headed out one night with my friends that work at a resort. Going out with all locals, I felt completely safe. Once I got there, it was packed. There was about 10 of us and we had two round tables. The music was bumping all night long, playing a mix of reggaeton, bachata, merengue, and a few American hip-hop songs tossed in. If you want to avoid tourist prices, come here. 1 Liter bottles of Brugal converted to about $16USD. Jumbo Presidentes were about $3USD. You do buy all mixers separately. This is not VIP bottle service we expect in any large city. 2 bottles of Brugal, a bottle of Whisky and a bunch of beers and mixers later, we only spent about $100USD. Great night, great place if you want to see how the locals party in a no-frills atmosphere. Even though I was with locals, I would've felt safe here without. As long as you have reliable and trustworthy transportation to/from your resort. Can't wait to go back in May.

Best place to be at night.. bottles are cheap.... the DJ needs to be changed though! always plays the same music.. doesn't take any request and doesn't leave a song on for more then like 20 seconds. other then that the staff is good. the place is nice and its always full.

We took a quick cab ride from our hotel for some local far and we weren't disappointed. Cool vibe, good looking people, and the drinks and music were priced just right.
Bachatadave
This is a very basic dance and drink place which makes it a great attraction. It is best to go here with friends or staff from the hotel (which I did), They play great music and you can dance right beside your table if you like. Beer is cheap and everyone is friendly. I felt very safe but it gets very busy so I recommend going around 11:00 pm if you want to have a seat and table, There is a good mix of locals and tourists so it is different from being at your resort .... but that is the reason to go here. There are other fancier clubs if you don't want to leave home lol.

This is the perfect spot to go to dance with locals, feel safe and have a great time. It gets pretty packed but the ambiance is great, the music is fabulous and it's so nice to be outside dancing with the breeze blowing. We had a great time and if we would have known how safe it was to leave the resort, we would have gone here nightly instead of the club at the resort. THIS is the spot for bachata and latin music. So if that's what you like, you won't be disappointed. The downside is there are lots of people and not enough room to really dance. But the drinks are good, reasonable priced and people/security are good. Don't be afraid... GO get your groove on!

I don't know what everyone is raving about. Its a hole. A little street bar attached to a liquor store. No place to stand and its just a damp. Common everyone be real now. I just returned form PC and visited this famous/infamous place. A bunch of Dominicans looking to get hooked up with tourists.

Nice little joint. It's basically on the street, mostly locals, and drinks are fairly priced, very good music. Just be careful of all the prostitutes around. If you are there without a lady friend, you will definitely be approached by them and they will stick around and drink your booze.

This is the place to be went on a Friday and Saturday night. The Friday night was better but both nights were good. A lot of locals go here and they play a variety of dominican music, hop-hop and RnB. It is free to get in only have to pay for drinks.

Just outside Occidental Grand. Good music. Mostly locals. Can't complain. Goes until 5/6 in the morning.

Came here three nights during my recent stay in Punta Cana. It's a local Dominican spot and the music is great if you like Spanish music. The vibe is GREAT though and their liquor prices aren't bad either. Staff is friendly and work hard. This place gets really packed on the weekends( with locals and guests from other resorts), but that doesn't kill the vibe or the great time. Tried the hookah there and it isn't good at all : (, everything else is and will be here again on my next trip to DR.

I Love this place! My best friend and I decided to venture out of our hotel to party with the locals and surely enough we did. This place is filled with many Dominican locals. This is an outside club, sooo cool. The music was just awesome. They put bachata, denbow, salsa, hip hop, perico ripiau, house and techno, a little bit of everything. The beers were super cheap and the strong alcohol was very cheap too. It's a great scene with people dressed very nice and ready to dance the night away...
