Well worth a look. A house turned into a museum. Very interesting. You can easily spend half a day here.

The place is small covering two floors. However, it is jam packed with things and you could easily spend two hours here. We had four children and even with their abbreviated attention spans we spent a good forty minutes. Please note: this is the insect museum, not the insect zoo. There are no live insects here. This is made abundantly clear when the owner opens the gate to let you in. Entrance fee is 200THB for anyone over 12 and 100THB for children between 4 and 12. Under 4 is free. Considering the Chiang Mai Zoo was only 150THB it's not necessarily cheap. Then again it's a little over $6USD so it's all a matter of perspective. There is a sheet of paper that you're given to guide you throughout the house. For us, the highlight was definitely the upstairs. Here you have hundreds of specimens of all kinds of insects and even some that are not. Strangely the kids were more drawn to the stag and dung beetles than the butterflies.Pictures are not really allowed, although you can take one together in the lobby area to document your visit. Overall it was worth the trip and if we had more time (and attention span) we could have stayed longer.

I loved that this establishment has been family run since its opening. You are individually greeted at the door and introduced to the museum with plenty of informational materials for your visit. It is perfect for the museum-nut, those that want to read every bit of text in the entire building, and also great for those that like to absorb in a more casual way. Depending on our moods, we can be a bit of both, and appreciated the level of detailed information that was provided, but also the aesthetics of the museum itself, and how easy it was to enjoy what they had to share. It was definitely worth the visit, and I was happy to help support them. We hope you do too!

If you're not interested in insects, don't go here.If you are interested in insects, you'll love this place. It's crammed full of great stuff, and I spent two hours looking around. Dr. Rampa is always there and willing to answer any questions you have. It's a bit quirky how in love with mosquitoes they are. There are lots of pictures with mosquitoes incorporated into them and little poems about mosquitoes. There is another insect museum in Chiang Mai which has far more advertising. If you want to get to this place, make sure you have the right address!

This is a small museum (actually Dr Rampa's house) crammed full of all sorts of interesting stuff. There is a lot about insects especially mosquitos but also many fossils and carvings. We even got to meet and talk at length to Dr Rampa who has had a really interesting life. She enjoys the visitors and contrary to other museums encouraged us to take photos.

I'm so happy I went here. I had the chance to meet Dr. Rampa and enjoyed a very thoughtful and wonderful conversation with her. I left this place feeling like my heart would burst. If I could go here everyday I would. Also- unlike other museums, there are a lot of things that you can touch- which is pretty cool!

The Place seems out of Space. The owner are great and very talkative. You can see the love to every Detail of this Museum. Thank You!

Dr Rampa's home is a testament to a lifetime of work, dedicated to nature and to insects. This family-run museum is particularly helpful in understanding mosquitoes, malaria and other diseases. The highlight was to meet and talk with Dr Tampa herself. A must visit place for all aged 8 to 80.

We set out to see the Karen Long Neck village which was not worth the time, effort and price of admission ( 500 baht ) as sad looking ladies wearing their traditional clothing and jewellery weave beautiful scarves that they plaintively try to sell you after agreeing to pose for a photo. One can understand the trade off, however we feel it would be more appropriate to have one communal store, therefore avoiding the " unpleasant " salesmanship aspect of the encounter. Thus as we left their village rather disappointed, we stopped next at the Museum of Insects which turned out to be a fun filled hands on experience. Though some of the exhibits look a little tired, they are well presented showing off a well rounded collection. We were truly amazed a the spectacular colours of some of the butterflies and insects. The butterfly enclosure was magical. Add to this the thrill of holding beetles, scorpions, iguanas and various other wonderful creatures and you have a well spent hour of delight.

I visited this spot with my wife based on Trip Advisor reviews. Upon ringing the door bell and being let in, my first thought was 'wow, this wasn't what I was expecting...' The museum is basically a converted large family home or former business. However, this museum is truly a comprehensive, lifetime of work collated by the husband and wife owners. Both have dedicated their lives to the research of the natural world (mosquitoes in particular) and have amassed a huge and informative collection of insect species from around the world. There are also ants nests, coral, shells and quite a bit of artwork. The museum has plenty of information for reading on the walls in regards to insect life. I was particularly interested in the deadly and poisonous species. I recommend anyone that has an interest in the natural world and happens to be in Chiang Mai visit this site. Thanks to the owners for putting it together for the public's benefit.

Be advised there are 2 different locations. One with live insects and one without. Be sure you know which you are going to.
