Booked the Ice Fishing and 30km snow mobiling tour with Asobiya. The Ice Fishing is on Kanayama Lake, about 45 minute drive from Asobiya's office in Furano. It was well organized and they had a large tent/shack on the lake all set up with holes and fishing rods. It was great fun for all of us. The only things we would have wished for, was for our guide to be more fluent in English, and to offer his help in taking photos for us, and also to have more time to take photos of the beautiful scenery around the lake. The snow mobile ride was on the part of route 70 which had not been cleared of snow. It was a 30 minute drive from Asobiya's office in Furano to get to the start of the snow mobile ride.Unfortunately, the 30km snow mobiling ride we booked turned out to be MUCH SHORTER than the promised 30km ride. I have a cycling app on my phone that tracks the location, speed, distance, etc. and I turned the app on at the start of the snow mobile ride. At the half way turn around point, I was surprised to see that we had only travelled around 10.5km instead of the expected 15km... When I questioned our guide, he said this is the normal route for 30km ride and this was set up a few years ago.. Our total distance was only 21.22km for the whole ride, significantly less than the 30km that was paid for... In addition to this shorter ride, the conditions of the snow mobiles also left much to be desired. They were quite old, extremely loud, and my snow mobile refused to idle properly, meaning that I had to have a finger on the throttle at all times or the engine will die... Except for the turn around point, our guide also did not stop even once to allow us to take photos on the trail. I had wanted to stop a few times, but the hassle of having to pull the starter cord to restart the engine after each stop just made it too much trouble to bother. See the attached screen caps of the route map and the distance travelled. We had 2 adults and 2 young kids (below 11) in our group. Everyone enjoyed the ice fishing but it's quite expensive at almost JPY20,000 for our group. Now that we've done it, I would be looking for cheaper options the next time we visit. The snow mobile tour costs over JPY40,000 for 2 tandem rides, and given the shorter than expected route and the poor conditions of the snow mobiles, I would definitely avoid Asobiya for this activity.

This was an activity to break the monotony of our ski trip, and to have a different perspective of the Furano area. And boy was it an amazing experience!Booked in advance through their website (http://www.asobiya.jp/ac/eng/), and they were prompt in their response and confirmation. Very professional. Hot air ballooning - Wow! Once they confirmed by phone call earlier in the morning that the weather was suitable, they sent a minibus to pick us up at the hotel and drove us the the snow covered rice fields where they were already setting up. Once the balloon was ready, we were given some basic instructions and off we went. It was a sight to behold and was so peaceful up there. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Snowmobile 10km - they will again pick you up at your hotel and take you to a snow covered area which I latter found out was a golf course. The guides took us through open fields, a small bridge and to a lake. They allowed us a few stops to take pictures of the scenery. The morning air was crisp and it was bliss. I would recommend that you bring ear muffs and sunglasses or goggles to protect you from the wind. I had a very good experience with Asobiya and I would recommend them for their activities. As mentioned in another review, the hot air balloon ride was expensive, but the experience was well worth it. Thanks to the staff at Asobiya for the great memories.

Took up hot-air balloon and snow-mobiling with Asobiya.A staff from Asobiya called me one day before my hot-air balloon ride, to inform me that they will confirm if the ride will be conducted at 6.30am the next day. I deem this gesture as a good service, so that we will not be rudely awaken by the call the next morning. The views on the hot-air balloon was amazing. Winter landscapes viewed from above was amazing. The pilot on the flight was professional and ensured our safety was not compromised. We landed in the middle of the snow field, quite a distance away from the road where our vehicle was waiting for us. The dedicated staff on the ground ran up to us and helped in pulling the basket to the roadside. The snow was knee-deep, and boy, it must had been very tedious for them. I applaud the Japanese staff for their pride in their job.The snow-mobiling as conducted at an open area, which was a golf course in summer. Though the guide spoke minimal English, she tried her best communicating to us using the English translations that were in her mobile phone. being first-timers, she was very concerned with our safety, and slowed down to ensure that we were able to catch up with her. Once she was ensured that we were comfortable with the vehicle, she picked up speed again.I had a good time with Asobiya. Though the prices may be steep (I reckon such activities in Hokkaido do not come cheap either), dedicated services were rendered by the staff, and I know I am in good hands as they are very concerned about our safety.

My family comprising 3 generations (aged 8 to 70) went on the family rafting session down Sorachi River. It was a fun activity and everyone agreed it was the highlight of the entire trip to Hokkaido this summer. The guides assigned to us spoke English and the instructor (Gupta from Nepal) was professional and safety was uppermost in his mind. He gave my children fantastic experiences during the session and even got them to brave the cold water by encouraging them to swim in the river. My kids also tried the buggy ride, but as it rained just before we arrived in Furano, they got to try out the kids course. It would have been better to let them do the adult course which covered some terrain instead of just going round a track. In all, we will go back to them again, hopefully in winter to try the snow rafts.

Our girls (15 & 13) tried the winter parasailing behind a snowmobile and thought it was thrilling and fun. The guys were clearly experienced and took safety very seriously while still clearly enjoying the fun of it. English was sufficient to convey instructions in a safe and fun way.
