Small city market with some small diners and lots of wine shops.. Major resorts & hotels are in and around Nani Daman especially on the Devka beach road. Good break from the hypes of big cities.. Easily approachable from Mumbai..

Nani daman is just like a small towm with almost everything available. Nani daman main beach is devka and there is a church amd a fort to visit. The maket area is crowded with some good resturants to eat.devka beach is approx 3 km from nani daman taxi stand.

the jetty, the fort, the church - nani daman is a place to smell some leisure time without thinking about the watch. You can sit at the beach side and see what others are doing

Many more places to explore through this beautiful city especially the Devka beach located on its shores. Fort area is an another option to watch around

Moti Daman is not for tourists.Nani Daman is the place where you will find all the bars, restaurants, hotels and beach. However, the beach is not that great.

If you are with your friends then may be you can enjoy, having drinks and non veg food. otherwise there was nothing excellent on this location. We have been to many places, but did not find anything very great as for sight seeing.

Well, mostly being from pune and my friend being from mumbai, we were suprised how cheap the booze was. For once, booze was cheaper than food.Didnt do much here. Stayed at nana's palace in the market area. Drank n went to sleep on friday. Took a walk down the beach road near the market....filled with locals sitting and drinking there. And lots of fishing drying up i presume. The better place to sit and drink is the shacks down the beach road where all the resorts are in nani daman. It seemed like an awesome place. No real nightlife. A lot of ghazals (orchestra as its called out there) go on in most resorts. A few places had some edm music playing. But not exactly a similiar crowd to mumbai or pune. So would suggest to sit at one of the bars, the best i found was daman deleight in the market area or sit in your room drinking. There are a few forts and churches. But in the heat and hangover, it didnt seem like a good idea.I'm a 23 yr old who wanted to just travel some place to meet a frnd after few mnths n chill. So daman seemed ideal from the point that we drink alot n had a lot of catching up to do.For a family i suppose this place is just a getaway from the city n its overcrowded by gujrati folk, mostly the middle aged men on a weekend drinking binge after a week of dry run.Cheers

The union territory of Daman and Diu are actually about 600 kms apart by road. But Daman is the nearest, cheapest, and accessible place from Mumbai if you want to pin to to your map. It has basically 2 parts, Nani Daman and Moti Daman. 2 Beaches await you with long chain of bear shops who also give prawn masala(exclusive in Jampore beach)

One of the 7 Union Territories in India is Daman and Diu. A small territory of sea shore. The place is for me a one or probably two time visit but not more. It resembles a mini Goa with All hotels adjoining the rocky beaches and predominantly Gujarathi revellers. Mostly with families from Mumbai and Gujarat the place is flocked by many on weekends. And why not....its a nice small place to unwind for travelers from these places. The hotels and restaurants are packed with weekenders and the entire place becomes festive lively esp with DJs pumping up the volumes in almost every hotel. The prime interest in Daman is Shopping esp for confiscated customs goods or Genuine Fakes of all well known brands. With some bargaining qualities one can make the best shopping here. The tourist attractions as such are very few and not well maintained. Beaches are terrible and as such the city is crammed up. My wife is a avid shopper and yes for her I did enjoy this amazing Union Territory of India...For all the party goers two thumbs up....

Another weekend getaway to Daman.Reason: Daman was just an excuse to drive on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway (NH8).When: Last Saturday. How: We were planning for it for a couple of days and on Saturday morning my wife somehow wanted to buck the plan. So I too dodged it. After breakfast, she changed her mind and agreed to go. I was always ready anyway!QUick pack, 11'o clock, we started from Powai. Filled in the tank & sooner hit the Eastern Expressway through JVLR. Traffic was reasonably thin and we did not find much of an issue even on the signals. The whole road was quite well-maintained. We had to pay three tolls (35+58+64) on the way. Unlike my last week's visit to Trimbakeshwar, I did not speed up much, we maintained 80-90 kmph. The whole road follows the coastline (well you don't see them as they are 60 km away!) on left & the lavish green mountain range. Around 2 O'clock, we started feeling hungry and were looking for some good Hindu restaurant before entering the Manor area. Most of them were veg but but did not satisfy our criteria. Finally, we entered one of them, the food tasted good, but later realized, it was not that great food. However, if we could have waited a little more time, there were some good restaurants near Manor crossing. After food another one hour journey and then we entered Gujarat. We were surprised to see a CNG pump. CNG cost in Gujarat are 49/- (5/- more than from Mumbai). We filled the gas tank also.We were bit confused whether to stay at Nani Daman area of Jampore beach area. The road quality automatically took us to the Devka Beach area (Nani Daman) and we started scouting for a budget hotel. The first one - some sai resort quoted for a super-Deluxe available 4500/-!!! Huhh!, the room had nothing worthy of quoting 4* rate. We moved on and neared the Devka beach area. We saw some independent house owner have converted the ground floor to some sort of guest house. We entered one of them to check out how they look. For a simple room (to be frank quite like our bed room) they quoted 2500/-, I quoted 1500/, he was stuck at 2000/-; it did not work, we moved out. A couple of more hotels checked either they were full or fool to quote exorbitant rates. Finally, we came to our shelter for the night - the Ashoka regency, just in front of the park in the Devka beach. The overall presentation was good - both the room & the hotel. They quoted 2500/-, had a parking lot also. We agreed to spend the night there. After dumping our luggage, we went towards the beach. It was fully rocky, not a single sign of sand. The rocky beach has become dangerous with the young generation (and not so young also) crushing the beer bottles on the rocks. I saw few parents with their kids on bare foot were treading on those rocks, quite scary! We just wanted to spend some more time around the Devka beach, we entered the park by paying 10/person. The beautiful crimson red Sun in front of us and we could see how every inch of it was going down in the water (well a little above water). Back to hotel, little rest I saw the ISL match. 10'o Clock came out for dinner, visited 2-3 places most of them playing live / on-screen music, all of them either ignored us or asked us to wait for 30 mins! We came back to our hotel's restaurant. The food was reasonably ok. Post dinner, we wanted to take some walk on the road but did not look quite safe with lots of young kids half-drunk swerving across the roads. Decided to retun to hotel.Next morning decided to leave early. Started around 7 AM. Early morning nice breeze. Sooner we hit the NH8, we started revving the pedal. There was a stretch where for almost 20 mins our average speed would have been 110+ kmph. We saw some amazing bikers, zoomed past us while I was 120+. God knows at what speed they were driving ... may be 150+! Had plan of taking some breakfast, but we realized that we are nearing Dahisar! So we decided that we will breakfast at home. Some traffic as we entered the city, finally back home at 10.Overall nice driving experience.

This place is for ppl who love shopping. you get good stuff at cheap rates. The only problem is parking, so be prepared to walk some distance.
