Great fishing. Excellent crew and boat. From Yellow Fin Tuna, to large blue and black Marlin, Amberjack, Snapper, Grouper, and a multiplicity of other types great eating fish. The Coiba region is equally fascinating if you enjoy a little history and nature walks

Coiba Adventure Panama lives up to it's name. I had the adventure of a lifetime. The remote location of Coiba Isle just adds to the experience you can't get anywhere else. It is exotic and breathtaking. The beach is pristine and unspoiled. Our cabin was very comfortable & air conditioned at night. The staff was very friendly and brought us fresh coffee to our door every morning. They also did our laundry and made our beds daily. Each room in the cabin includes a bathroom with a shower. The food was great. In the morning we could have breakfast right next the beach or to go on the boat. The cook would also prepare a variety of meals and snacks we could eat during the day while we were fishing. We never ran short of food or drink. Captain Tom was the perfect host both on & offshore. We caught a great variety fish everyday. My Uncle Jim told Tom he had never caught a Rooster fish. The second day he had his fish. I caught a huge Red Snapper (My Biggest Fish Ever) the same day. The first mate Juan was excellent. Tom Yust is an exceptional individual. He loves what he does and where he is. His enthusiasm is both infectious & inspiring.

I have fished with many Captains’ all over the world hands down this was the best fishing experience to date.Need I say more…From the boat, tackle, Captain, crew and staff everything was outstanding. We fished four days and caught over 19 different species of fish finishing our last day off with a 600 plus pound Blue Marlin.

What can you say about an amazing adventure! I went to Cobia years ago with some friends; and after 4 days, wait, make that 4 minutes,I knew it was one of the best fishing adventures of a lifetime. I wasn't looking for a resort; I wasn't looking for marinas with other deep seafishing charters; I was looking for an adventure! I got it! If your a fisherman; you want to fish; you want to feel like your alone in the elements, well, there is no place on earth that I know you can get both. But fishing is one thing; but having a guide like Tom, and Jessica to put the adventure together; is nothing but perfect! Imagine an island where you see no other people, no other boats, nothing but unadulterated beautiful jungle and crystal clear ocean. If your lookingfor an over the top extravagant resort adventure; this is not your place. If your looking for a guide that knows how to fish, and you actually catch fish, this is the place. Hot showers? Nope...But what you get is equivalent to Gilligan's island; with incredible food and drink; and Tom's incrediblelife stories. He really is one of the main reasons I went back to the island and brought my brother and our sons. It's a trip that is now a legend, byboys will never forget it. They still tell me it was something they will always remember. There is no way to describe how incredible this trip was, and will be when we return. We planned out each day the way we wanted. Tom was totally flexible about fishing "in shore" or taking us to catch my son's first 450 lb black marlin at Hannibal Bank!. We also caught sailfish, giant prehistoric snapper, rooster fish, wahoo, barracuda, bonito, and durado, and many more that I forgot the names! It was amazing.

Let the topic speak for itself. Fantastic fishing with a crew who know the waters like their own hands and know where to find what and how. They will also work very hard for you to get all the fish you can get. There weren't many times that I saw the first mate Juan stop working during our stay. Both Captain Tom and Juan are great, very experienced fishermen. The two cooks made excellent food. Sleeping in Coiba island in the middle of the nature was a beautiful experience.I'm currently doing my exchange studies in Panama City and when my girlfriend came to visit me here I was looking for cool things to do. We both love fishing, so I was looking at the marlin fishing trips organized in Panama, although I knew they are well out of the student budget. I was intrigued by Coiba Adventures' web page with the precise descriptions of all kinds of fish you can expect to catch and how you will do it. I knew this was something I had to do, so I contacted them. They said they could also organize a one day trip, 12h of fishing with two nights on the Coiba island. Although it was a lot of money for us, it was a once in a lifetime experience that we could not pass. And we weren't disappointed. It was definitely the most epiic fishing trip we've ever had.On this trip my old 4kg record fish now got updated to the epic approximately over 200kg (500 lbs) Black Marlin. During the 12h trip my girlfriend and I fished altogether 4 Black Marlins, tons of Skipjack Tuna used as bait, a huge Almaco Jack, 2 Wahoo's and a Barred Snapper at the end of the day.All Marlins were released at the side of the boat and the Barred Snapper after the quick photoshoot. All other fish were either taken as fillets or used as bait.Best. Fishing Trip. Ever!To make our trip more affordable transportation was not included. We rented a car to go from Panama City to Santa Catalina and bought the boat rides from Coiba Dive Center. Worked fine.During our stay in Coiba island we saw a lot of monkeys, iguanas, 4 macaws (big red parrots) and a big crocodile. After the trip we went snorkeling with Coiba Dive Center and saw sharks, a sea turtle and a lot of beautiful fish in the surrounding waters of Coiba. Panama at its best.

Myself along with my two cousins and two friends booked a five day fishing trip with captain Tom to coiba this past year. If you are looking for a five star hotel then this is not the place or you. But if you are looking for some of the most beautiful and scenic views in the world, a great captain and crew, awesome fishing, snorkeling, and fresh food that you caught then this is the place for you. we fished five days and caught around ten different types of fish along with a couple of nice black marlin. captain tom and his crew will work and fish as long as you want them too and know these waters like the back of their hand. We certainly had a trip of a lifetime. This is a true fishermen's paradise.

We visited Isla de Coiba in January. Upon arrival to the island, we thought what on earth have we gotten ourself into? The lodging was a bit shoddy or so we thought. We soon learned the lodging was just part of the charm. Trust me, we all slept well! What made the trip so amazing was teh fishing. We caught 149 fish from 27 different species. Each day we would return to wonderful meal some of it made with the fresh tuna or mahi mahi we just caught. Captian Tom's boat is comfortable and easy to move around on. We were able to hike when we returned or snorkle in some of the most prestine waters I have ever been in. This is an unspoiled fishing paradise.

Four of us joined Captain Tom for 7 days of fishing in October 2013. Coiba Island is simply an amazing place, virtually untouched by civilization. We knew before we left that we wouldn't have hot water or 5 star accommodations. However, what we wanted to do was fish, fish and fish some more. We spent several hours researching different options for catching large saltwater fish and lots of them. We ultimately decided on Coiba. The bottom line is that we fished as long as we wanted to for 7 days straight, without hearing one complaint from Captain Tom or any of his staff. We fished dark to dark every day except for one day when we came in a few hours prior to dark. The fact is that you will not find this anywhere else....period. We lost track of how many fish and how many different species we actually caught. On the downside, we tried for marlin but we couldn't entice a hit. We enjoyed the food, drink and atmosphere. If you want to experience a truly tropical fishing adventure, I'm not sure where you could find a more rewarding experience than with Captain Tom.

I visited Coiba with Captain Tom in January 2014. We fished for three days and we had an amazing time. Captain Tom and the first mate were truly accommodating and Coiba Island is a rare place on this planet - somewhere where civilization hasn't quite penetrated yet! To me, the most important aspects of a successful fishing experience are the following, ranked in importance - accommodating host, great food, great fishing, comfortable boat and comfortable accommodations. I would give Coiba Adventure a perfect score on all of the above. A great host and great food are a must; after all you are on vacation and you are trying to unwind and enjoy yourself. Fishing is fishing and I am grateful when the bite is on.....Coiba seriously delivered in this department. Although we were too early for the marlin, we made up for it in the variety of fish that we caught with a couple of trophies. Captain Tom's boat is extremely comfortable and a pleasure to be on all day. I have fished on larger boats that are way less comfortable. Captain Tom has made a few custom changes to the boat that make it roomy with a few places to catch a little siesta mid day if you so choose. The accommodations are rustic but clean and comfortable and I always got a good sleep at night.Coiba Fishing Adventures is truly a special fishing trip with a great host in unspoiled territory. I felt that it was worth every penny and I look forward to going back soon!

I do not know how anyone could write a bad review about such a beautiful place. Coiba is the only place in the world that has not been ruined by people. The fish are prehistoric and the wild life is very photo friendly. Captain Tom knows the island better than anyone there so be sure to choose Coiba Adventure.Awesome experience !!

Did I know that there was no hot running water on the island? Yes, I knew this before we booked our trip. Was it an adventure? Yes, we fished from before sunup to after sundown each day and caught a lot of fish. The food was excellent, and the chef was talented. As ugly as a bull dorado is on the boat does not prepare you for the delicacy it is on your plate. The crew both on the boat and on the island were excellent. When we did have any kind of problem, all we had to do was call Rolando or Juan, and the problem was fixed quickly. We still talk about Rolando arriving in our room the first morning. He greeted us with, "Good morning, I have some coffee for you." in his thick Spanish accent. I have used the line at home. If you want luxury, this is not the trip for you. If you want adventure with a fine captain and crew and are willing to enjoy the time away from city comforts, this is the trip for you.

The fishing experience with Captain Tom will be one that will be difficult to top. We caught eighteen species of fish in only three days. The food was exceptional, the staff hard working and helpful. The accommodations were rustic but we spent very little time in our room. The location is breathtaking. The entire experience was more then I could have expected. I've been fortunate enough to have fished twelve countries and this trip tops my list. I will be returning for a second trip in 2016.

About eight years ago I went to a place called Manta Resort. A former coconut plantation on an atoll eleven acres and 2 hours boat ride off the coast of Belize. While I was there ( MR was mostly for divers) I met a gentlemen who had fished the world. I was there to snorkel and fish. I asked him where he would recommend for his top fishing spots around the world. He named Coiba with Capt Tom as number one and Midway island as number two. I've been trying to go for over 8 eight years and finally the stars aligned. I went last year at the end of August beginning of September with a friend who had only fished three or four times in his life. We flew to Panama a couple days early and were picked up at the airport by one of Coiba's driver. He spoke PERFECT English and we used him throughout our stay as a guide and translator. His name was Gregory and I can put you in touch with him if you would like. He was instrumental in our side trips up and down the coast. We stayed at the Marriott in Panama City and it was great. I have posted on TA about the hotel. Now back to Coiba. We were picked up the day of our flight by Gregory and taken to the small airport about twenty minutes from our hotel. We waited in the private lounge in the hangar as the pilot readied the plane. It was a quick 40 minute flight to Isla Coiba. Capt Tom and help met us at the airstrip and carried our bags down to the transfer to get to his boat which was about 50 yards from shore. The walk is steep at points so wear tennis shoes but my buddy made it no problem in sandals. It's a grass slope. We got in the boat and the Capt asked us did we want to start fishing right away, go to camp, make the longer run to Marlin territory or whatever. We decided to fish our way to camp and unload our bags, grab some chow and then go back out. The Captain ALWAYS worked around our schedule. The first afternoon we caught at least six different species including Roosterfish which was our target species of the day. BTW I can't speak for other times of year but late August, early September is a great time to go. It's mostly cloudy everyday and you might get some rain but you get too see whales jumping all the time...like the Pacific Life commercialson TV and the fishing is off the charts. It's the only time in my life where I have had to say to the Captain...time to go back, I can't catch anymore fish. We caught Roosterfish, Blue and Gold Trevally, African Pompano,Jack Crevalle, Black Tip shark, Yahoo, giant Cubera and many others. The Capt and mate made sure we were comfortable. Sometimes we would be cruising and say "Capt we feel like snorkeling" and so we would. The snorkeling like the fishing is FANTASTIC. We chose bot to go for Marlin or Tuna but more about that later. The Capt sure wanted to go! In fact he just wanted to put us on fish and more fish! And speaking of fantastic the food was unbelievable. I frequently dine in New YorkCity and I would take the chefs food over 99% of the cities finest. Every morning there was a knock on the door and a pot of good coffee on a tray was waiting. I'd have a cup while watching the monkeys play and the boat sitting on the cove. When we came in from fishing appetizers were ready and top shelf alcohol. The food they made for the boat was better than most of the meals I eat at home. Here is my only regret. Coibadventure was on my bucket list and now it is off, however a second trip is on my list now! I took lots of pictureswhe and will post them when I figure it out or please feel free to PM me in my TA mailbox. This is a trip off a lifetime and people and places like Tom and Coiba are a rarity. Go before they all disappear. One last thing. There is a very negative post about Coiba. I noticed the writer has never posted about anything. Check out my credentials...you can even call me if you want. Just send an email to the TA mailbox.

We stayed on the island with captain Tom and his ever changing crew Never again. limited electricity, no water at times. very poorly managed. cook quit after a few days I had to finish cooking for the camp. limited food. expect to loose a few pounds. Fishing was good not great. Equipment and boat is old and weathered daily boat breakdowns are to be expected. Tom advertises fish for as long as you want. When you want is simple not true. You are on his schedule. The reason why it is called Coiba Adventures because you are living like the Flintstones. If you like a vacation with minimal creature comforts like running water or electricity this is not the place for you. Grossly over priced for what you get. poor value. Toms a nice guy but a very poor operator. The truth hurts We were there February of 2012

I've had the privilege to travel around the world chasing fish. Coiba was on my bucket list and after doing a lot of research, I chose this outfit. So many people want to rate some place by the fish they caught but Tom's operation was way more than the ridiculous variety we caught. It was about being in the middle of the jungle, eating food that can only be described as 5 star. Drinking your favorite drink, while watching monkey's come down stealing pieces of banana that we left for them. Water lapping at your feet, lightning cracking the sky over the mountains. The cottages were clean, very clean and our generator worked without a hitch thus powering our a/c and fans. It's not a cheap trip by any means but what most people don't see is the work behind the scenes. The mate that Tom had for our trip was as good as I've had anywhere in the world. He worked endlessly with a smile on his face at all times. It's a pity that someone else didn't have the same experience that we did but sometimes you can't please anyone. All 5 of us were as happy as we could have been and would return again. I wrote a long report and posted it on florida sportsman. http://forums.floridasportsman.com/showthread.php?124461-HAMMER-HEADS-TO-PANAMA-extremely-long-reportIf you have any questions, I can be reached at 305 321 1473Capt Rob Hammer
