There is a paradise at about 2 hours drive from Guatemala City, known as IRTRA by thle locals. The interamerican road brings you to your destination with several tematic hotels such as mediterranian, mayan, etc. The hotels area also have such a wonderful gardens and international restaurants, with additional services such as bowling, SPA, tennis court and several swimming pools. Customer service is outstanding with the traditional Guatemalan hospitality that always bring smiles to the guests. If you would like more fun there is the best watwerpark in Centralamerica called Xocomil. In addition to Xetulul the amusement park with best rides in the region even rewarded as the best park in the world by winning the Applause in 2008.Weather is warm and all year long sometimes from May to October could be raining in the afternoon, but not all day. An average of 82F to 90F degrees all year :)

The IRTRA park at Retalhuleu is really nice, always clean, and always a helpful employee around. The water park (Xocomil) was so much fun and the water was clean and crisp (apparently it's mountain water!) And the theme park was also very well kept. We visited from Houston, TX and these parks have nothing to envy of any parks in the states. We also stayed at "LOS HOSTALES del IRTRA" across the street from the parks and those facilities were just as well kept as the parks. Truly a wonderful place to visit. We will be back next time we're in Guatemala.

Just returned from Guatemala visiting the park and it's beautiful new 21-acre addition that contains three new themed lands with children and family rides - pirates, fantasyland and the Caribbean. Very nice and family friendly, with a huge pirate ship restaurant! The park is one of the cleanest I have every visited and the staff is amazingly well trained, hospitable and attentive. This is my second visit here and I have stayed at the on-property hotels both times which were wonderful. I highly recommend that if you are in the area, stop by.

This place is just great. Seriously. The quality of the rides is just really, really good. Think Great America, Six Flags, Carowinds. Subtract the expense and the lines. Actually we went during the week while local school was in session (in Guatemala "summer vacation" is November and December) so it may be busier on weekends or during local high season. But my kids had an absolute blast. The Avalanche will leave shaken and rattled. There is a full compliment of rides suitable for younger kids as well. One thing to remember is that access to the rides is based on height. Your kids are likely the size of basketball titans in Guatemala. My eight-year-old is tall for his age but not a giant. He could get onto 90% of the rides in the park. Both Xetulul and Xocomil are organized, safe, and an absolute blast. We cannot wait to return.

I wasn't expecting much for twin 4-year-olds since there aren't very many rides for little ones but we were exhausted by 4pm when the rain came and shut down all the rides! The rides were clean and safe. The staff did a great job of checking the rides and strapping my kids in. I can't get over how cheap admission and bracelets are for a day of fun. I was also expecting fast food like their Petapa location in Guatemala City but they had a nice variety of sit down restaurants that were very reasonably priced. We went to restaurant with linens, silverware, and glasses and paid less than $25 for our whole family of 4 for lunch. My only advice is to bring cash. I was expecting to be able to use our credit card for more and we ended up having to get cash from the ATMs on site.

Lots of fun for everyone .... kids and grown-ups. Great food, great rides, good shows. You have to drive about 3-4 hours from Guatemala City depending on traffic.

Xetulul and Xocomil are Central Americas Disney Land, however one has to wonder why they built it in the middle of nowhere. I have visited twice and although having no complains about the park, I always promise not to make that long drive again. I have visited from San Salvador. The drive is about 7 painful hours. Driving from Guatemala is not an easy task as well. Roads are always being repaired, expect long delays. The parks are nice but if you are a regular to Disney, Universal and other theme parks don't expect to be blown away.

I just visited Irtra, We went with the hole family, we wore 18, 6 adults with kids of 2,4,5,8,10,12,13 years and 3 sixteeners. We are amaized by the beauty of the place. Xetulul it's like a mini Magic Kindom. Everything,s perfect, the food in every restaurant is delicious, the rides are great, we all had lots of things to do. The kids loved everything about it. They enjoyed it so mich that we are already planning a new vacation. It's a MOST if you visit Guatemala.

Amusement parks are very far and few in Central America, and most are relatively small. Xetulul is, however, the exception. The rides are comparable to big amusement parks in other parts of the world (aka Disneyland and more), and the setting is extremely beautiful. Everything from staff to the food is amazing. It is relatively cheap if you come from another country (considering the usual exchange rate for Quetzales and the average amusement park price in other countries), but for locals it can get a little expensive if you plan to extend your stay at the hotel. There's pretty much at least something for everyone in a family, and even if you're not into mechanic rides there's always something you can enjoy. The food is very varied as it is country-themed, but be prepared for relatively high bills.

This is definitely the Disney Land of Central America, perfect to go as a couple, family, alone, business or pleasure. Totally recommended.

Its really cheap ($10) and you can go on all the rides you want. Although there is not that many rides, its really great for family. During December, there is NOBODY at the park. It is deserted and open, so you will be able to ride every ride more than once (I did the bumper carts 14 times in a row). You will enjoy it.

What a great experience. I went down with my girlfriend to stay for the weekend and the rooms were very clean, nice amenities and with a lot of space, also very nice furniture and comfortable beds. Plus the water park and the theme park are amazing, but you should go first at 9am to the water park and then to the theme park because the water park fills up very quickly.

Xetulul is a theme park. It´s ideal for families with kids. The rolercoaster is fantastic and snack are delicious. It´s clean and makes you feel as being in a different world.

What an amazing park! People are super friendly, rides to notch and food is fantastic. I suffered a small injury (my fault) and the emergency clinic was efficient, professional and free! I will come back and I believe it should be more popular for foreigners than it is.
