This was intersting, but to hot to really get the full effect of the information. It would also be nice if they had a few chairs to sit on. I really think the main reason they book this as part of the tour is to get you to buy the book and other things from there that are very pricey. The information and articles they have there are not very extensive, and its a really quick visit. If pressed for time, I would opt out of this venue.

A very interesting museum explaining the Naxi people, their language and Dongba religion. They have traditional clothing on display and chicken bones and stones used for divination. We met a Dongba priest who was the 13th generation writing their hieroglyphic language. The gift shop has spectacular wood and stone carvings, ceramics and paintings. They are expensive but worth it if you are still collecting instead of downsizing.

I was not in the mood to see another museum, but visited anyway AND was glad I did. Lovely English speaking guide explained the Naxi way of life, its culture, writing and religion. The museum is new and well thought-out, interesting. The small museum shop sells first quality items, mostly gorgeous, handmade native jewelry and small, very nice souveniers.

This museum was very interesting. We watched an old man write in the traditional way with traditional implements. His family had been scribes for 16 generations.

It was recently renovated so it's all sleek and shiny. There are guides in English but they are rather robotic in speech because it's not a language they're familiar with. We had the good fortune of meeting one of the few surviving Dongba shamans while we there - a real treat!

It's more of a museum shop than a museum, if you want to spend $10,000 US and more on cultural relics. Also an opportunity to meet with a Dongba priest who was silently reading from scriptures, all of which did not feel authentic

Worthwhile a visit to get an impression on this minority! It is located in a nice park with a view on the mountains. We were here a bit too late, So it was too misty to see the mountains. Try early in the morning. The old ladies in the park love to be photographed. :)

Worth a visit while you walk round Black Dragon Pond Good museum shop and wonderful painting exhibition

At the end of Blackdragon pool and not particularly well signposted. That said, the place contains some interesting exhibits, good photos , and best of all comprehensive descriptions, in English of Naxi culture, religion and daily life, Don't make a special trip but treat it as part of a pleasant stroll round the pools and temples. Exit via the North Gate and go back towards the old town.Call in at Speakeasy for coffee on the way, the only blue building. The shop has some interesting items, but is overpriced, as is Lijiang. Go to Shuher to shop.

after having visited the town it is nice to know to learn more about the history of the Naxi people and the religious principle that ruled their lives. It is not a big museum but it adds meaning to the visit of lijiang. after that, it is a short walk to the Dragon pool view.
